Tomales Volunteer Fire Company

Tomales Volunteer Fire Company The Tomales Volunteer Fire Company supports Marin County Fire by providing basic life support and firefighting services to the community.

Established in 1976, the Tomales Volunteer Fire Company at the time was one of the few Marin County Stations to utilize volunteers to supplement permanent staff. Our volunteers, provide basic life support paramedic services, wildland and structural firefighting, response to traffic accidents, falls, hazardous materials response, search & rescue, water rescue and disaster response. The Tomales Stat

ion covers the largest service area of any Marin County Fire Department. The Tomales fire station serves Tomales, Dillon Beach, Marshal and Chileno Valley in addition to providing mutual aide to the communities of Bodega Bay, Two Rock, Valley Ford and the US Coast Guard Base in Two Rock. Most importantly, the Tomales Volunteer Fire Company’s water tender 1590 serves as a crucial water source for fire suppression in remote areas such as the Point Reyes Peninsula and other rural areas. We need volunteers to provide critical support to our community! Join our team and learn new skills including basic medical, wildland fighting, engine driver training, among other crucial skills to respond to an emergency.

Hello Everyone- Chief 500 here,

It is with great pleasure that I announce Mark Stoering has been appointed Assistant Chief of the Tomales Volunteer Fire Company.

Mark has served as a volunteer with us for approximately 10 years. In my 28 years of volunteer service, very few individuals have matched his commitment, reliability, and dedication to TVFC. He consistently shows up, puts in the work, and leads by example.

Mark is, in my opinion, one of the finest water tender driver-operators around. He was truly “thrown into the fire” during the 2017 Sonoma Complex Fires, and his performance under pressure was outstanding. He handled himself with professionalism, calm, and determination when it mattered most.

Beyond his operational skills, Mark has been a trusted friend and steady presence within our department. I honestly cannot think of anyone who has a negative word to say about him — and that speaks volumes.

Please welcome the 501!

🚨 Busy Day for Tomales Volunteers! 🚒

Right after our regular monthly Saturday drill, we were called out to a water rescue at Lawson’s Landing involving five people in the water near the mouth of Tomales Bay.

Huge thanks to the local heroes who acted quickly to help rescue those in distress before we arrived — their courage made all the difference. 🙌

Our volunteers were directed by Marin County Fire Department to assist by providing landing zones for CHP Helicopter H-30 and Sonoma County Sheriff’s Helicopter Henry 1.

We’re grateful to help out! ❤️

We were asked last month, as we do yearly for a long time now to staff our water tender for the 2024 Marin County Fire Department wild land academy. This is a great experience for new volunteers and we even requested that we could staff a second water tender! So for 3 days we staffed our water tender 1590 and Woodacre's water tender 1596. In addition we had 3 people at the event for 2 out of the 3 days. Enjoy the photos and if you are interested in becoming a volunteer with us, please let us know!

Thankfully this fire season was not any where near what is has been in the past few years. We did have a great chance to be invited to several training burns and mitigation burns. Here are some photos from a burn we were invited to out at China Camp State Park a couple of weeks ago. We also got to staff another water tender for the day along with our water tender. Thank you to Marin County Fire Department for inviting us!

We had a great opportunity to visit and participate in a training burn with Marin County Fire, CAL Fire and other local government agencies out on the H Ranch in Novato. A truly magical place. Our giant water tender was able to make it up into some really amazing places on the ranch!

The Tomales Volunteer Fire Company would like to honor retiring MCFD Paramedic/Engineer Ian Adams for his many decades of service. Over the past decade Ian has helped our volunteer Firefighters & EMTs in Tomales become more effective first responders and stay safe on the job.

Most importantly Ian has been a friend to TVFC. For all this we are grateful for Ian's contribution. We will miss working with you Ian and wish you the very best.
