Meet the Tolono Public Library District Board!
Michelle Reed moved to Champaign County in 2021 and joined the Tolono Library Board in 2025. She joined the Board because she wanted to spend time volunteering in her community and thought her expertise from working in and for libraries could be useful to her local library.
After over a decade working in academic libraries, Michelle joined Library Futures three years ago. The nonprofit organization advocates for an equitable digital future for libraries. As Director of Programs, Michelle oversees an internship program for the next generation of information professionals and leaders in advocacy, law, policy, and research. She also coordinates research grants and manages the organization’s online education offerings, which include booktalks, panels, and interactive resources.
Outside of work, Michelle enjoys getting her hands dirty as an avid gardener. Her current project is converting her lawn into a native pollinator garden with future goals of expanding her vegetable garden and planting more Redbud trees. She recently read What an Owl Knows and is thankful to the library for feeding her bird obsession!
