Tolland Education Foundation

For the last twenty years, Linda Byam and Anne Hill have been steadfast and cherished voices at the table and in the life of the Tolland Education Foundation (TEF), helping to shape our direction, and our spirit. Their belief in the foundation’s mission has never wavered. Because of their care and vision, so much has been accomplished — the Golden Discovery Center, the Katie Powell Memorial Fund, the creation of an endowment fund to help ensure sustainability — and more than $425,000 in support for Tolland Public Schools, encouraging creative and innovative ideas that will ripple outward for generations.

As their chapter on the Board of Directors concludes, the members of the TEF Board celebrate them with deep gratitude and admiration for all they have given, for all they have made possible, and for the extraordinary example they continue to set. We and Tolland Public Schools have been very lucky to have them.

Thank you, Linda and Anne!

🌞🎉 Field Day Fun at Birch Grove Primary School! 🎉🌞

A heartfelt thank you to all of our parents, volunteers, and staff members who helped make Friday's Field Day such a wonderful success! The weather was beautiful, the energy was high, and our students had an absolute blast participating in all the activities. A special thank you goes to Mr. Keithan for his hard work in organizing and coordinating this beloved annual tradition. His dedication, planning, and commitment helped ensure a fun-filled and successful day for all.

To top off an already amazing day, our students were treated to a special surprise! Several Birch Grove Primary teachers and staff members suited up in large inflatable costumes and held their own Field Day race. The kids absolutely loved cheering them on and watching the hilarious competition unfold. 🏃‍♀️🎈🦞

Congratulations to Miss Lee, who raced her way to victory and took home the gold dressed as a lobster! 🏅🦞

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to TEPTO for providing the funding for a special presentation by Johnny the K. Armed with his 12-string guitar, a distinctive collection of costumed hats and disguises, and an exciting multimedia presentation, this award-winning musician and educator entertained and inspired our students while reinforcing the principles of PBIS. Through his lively, interactive style of music and movement, Johnny connected with students and staff alike, delivering important messages about good character, respect, responsibility, and positive social behaviors in a fun and memorable way.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so meaningful for our students. From Field Day activities to the engaging assembly, it was a wonderful celebration of fun, learning, and community at Birch Grove Primary School! 💙💛

🌟 A Heartfelt Thank You to TEPTO! 🌟

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to TEPTO for the fabulous display of treats and the wonderful coffee and drink bar from Radial Coffee .

Your generosity and thoughtfulness helped make our staff feel truly celebrated and appreciated. The delicious refreshments, cheerful setup, and special touches brought smiles to everyone throughout the day.

A special thank you as well for organizing the beautiful student-designed mugs for every staff member. With the assistance of Mrs. McLarney, students created unique, hand-designed mugs that made this gift even more meaningful. These personalized keepsakes will be treasured reminders of the appreciation and support of our school community.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support, kindness, and partnership of our BGP community.

On May 21st, the Sports & Entertainment Marketing students at Tolland High School had the opportunity to hear from THS alumna Gabby (Hurlbut) Maljanian (2014), a sports podcaster for Locked On Red Sox and founder of the podcast Boston Balling. During her visit to the school, Gabby shared her journey into the sports media industry, discussing the college courses and experiences that helped prepare her for a career in sports media and podcasting. She offered valuable advice on how students can make themselves more marketable while in college, emphasizing the importance of gaining hands-on experience, networking, and building a strong professional portfolio. Gabby also spoke about the entry-level positions she held before becoming a successful sports podcaster and provided an honest look at both the advantages and challenges of working in the industry. Students were especially interested in hearing about the notable athletes, media personalities, and other famous individuals she has met throughout her career. The presentation was highly engaging, and Gabby took the time to answer numerous student questions, providing insightful and practical advice for those interested in pursuing careers in Sports and Entertainment Marketing.
