We are proud to announce that Matt Bell, MSW, LSW, CIP, has been selected as the 2026 College of Health and Human Services Distinguished Alumnus!

A proud University of Toledo graduate, Matt has turned his personal journey into a mission of hope and healing. As Founder and CEO of Team Recovery, he has built one of Ohio's leading addiction treatment organizations, expanding access to recovery services while advocating for individuals, families and communities affected by substance use disorders.

Matt's leadership extends beyond Team Recovery through his service as Board Chair of the OneOhio Foundation, his work with Lucas Housing Services Corporation, and the Team Recovery Foundation. His commitment to servant leadership, innovation and community impact embodies the values of the College of Health and Human Services.

We look forward to honoring Matt during the University of Toledo Homecoming Gala on Friday, Oct. 9, where he will officially receive the 2026 College of Health and Human Services Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Feel-Good Friday: Celebrating Cindy Shackelford’s 26 Years of Service to LMH and our Community

On June 30, Lucas Metropolitan Housing celebrates the retirement of Cindy Shackelford after 26 years of dedicated service to LMH, our residents, and the greater community.

Cindy began her LMH journey on April 10, 2000, as an HCV Clerical Specialist. Over the years, she served in several important roles across the organization, including Application Technician with LIPH, Assistant Property Manager, Property Manager, Housing Specialist, Family Outreach Coach, and most recently, FOC Program Coordinator.

Her career reflects a deep commitment to service, resident support, and community impact. From helping families complete applications to supporting residents through housing programs and community-based services, Cindy has been part of the everyday work that helps move lives forward.

Cindy’s timeline at LMH tells the story of more than a career. It tells the story of relationships built, friendships formed, residents supported, and a mission lived out with care and consistency.

As Cindy shared, “The relationships and friendships I have because of working here are immeasurable. I wish LMH and the residents all the best. I know LMH is moving upward and onward!”

On behalf of LMH, we thank Cindy for her 26 years of service, dedication, and heart. Her work has left a meaningful mark on this organization and on the residents and community we serve.
