🍂 Holiday Season Reminder: Don't Forget Our Long-Term Care Residents! 🏘️

As the air turns crisp and the holiday decor starts making its appearance, our thoughts naturally turn toward family gatherings and festive cheer. But as the season gets busy, let's take a moment to remember the thousands of residents living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities across our community.

The holidays can be a challenging time for residents who may feel isolated or miss loved ones.

What can you do to spread some cheer?

Visit: If permitted, a simple visit—even a short one—can brighten a resident's entire week.

Call/Video Chat: Set up a quick video call with a distant relative or grandchild.

Volunteer: Check with a local facility about delivering cards or performing socially distanced activities.

Our Ombudsman program is committed to ensuring every resident enjoys the highest possible quality of life and care, especially during peak seasons. We are here to advocate for their rights, provide resources for quality care, and assist with complex discharge planning.

If you have questions about resident rights, facility selection, or need guidance on visiting policies, please reach out to us. We’re here to help you connect with compassion and confidence.

Happy Holidays to all, and thank you for being an advocate! ❤️

Resident Rights Month may be wrapping up, but the work to ensure dignity, respect, and self-determination for long-term care residents is year-round! 👏

This October, we celebrated the fundamental rights of individuals in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. We focused on the power of every resident's voice and their right to choose. While we had to discontinue the video series, Resident Rights are NEVER discontinued!

As your local Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, our mission doesn't stop on October 31st. We are here every day to:

✅ Advocate for resident choices and preferences.

✅ Educate residents, families, and facility staff on legal rights.

✅ Resolve complaints fairly and confidentially.

Thank you to everyone who helped raise awareness this month! Remember: Dignity and respect are non-negotiable rights.

If you or a loved one needs support, please call our confidential line at 419-259-2891 or visit us at https://ombudsman.ablelaw.org/
