The Toledo Police Department continues to actively pursue leads in connection with Saturday's shooting near the Old West End Festival. Our thoughts remain with the victims, their families, and all those impacted as they continue to heal and recover.

While no arrests have been made at this time, the investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone who has not yet spoken with investigators and may have relevant information is encouraged to call or text Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111. Information may be provided anonymously.

The Lucas County Sheriff's Office extends its sincere appreciation to the Toledo Police Department, Toledo Fire & Rescue Department, and the community members whose swift actions, compassion, and willingness to help provided support during a difficult and challenging situation.

We also appreciate the continued support, patience, and cooperation of our community as the Toledo Police Department's investigation moves forward. Acts of violence do not define our community; the strength, resilience, and unity demonstrated in response to them do.

World War II is honored on many days and in many ways throughout the year. However, June 6 is the anniversary of D-Day, commemorating the Normandy Invasion, which is annually celebrated and globally observed.

Toledo honors military service at the Civic Center Mall located in downtown between the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office and Toledo Police Safety building. The Civic Center Mall was completed in 1945 during the “City Beautiful” movement and features an Eternal Flame in honor of World War I veterans.

As always, we wholeheartedly thank those that serve for their sacrifice.

Law Enforcement Stereotypes

*Cops love donuts.

This is a cultural stereotype from the 1950s when coffee/donut shops were open 24/7 and officers would congregate to work on reports. It is no longer the 1950s. Welcome to 2026.

*Barney Fife represents all Deputies

Barney Fife was portrayed incompetent. He was also a TV character. Please stop believing everything you see on TV.

*Cops are lazy

Laziness is a subjective trait that can often be attributed to burnout. No stereotype can be applied to an entire profession. It’s offensive to the vast majority that work hard, do their job properly and put their own safety at risk to ensure yours. Generalizing overlooks character, skills and behavior. I’m fairly certain you can think for yourself so stop blindly repeating inaccurate comments.

*Cop marriages end in Divorce

15% of cop marriages end in divorce which is actually lower than the national average. Fun Fact: male officers are most likely to marry elementary or middle school teachers and nurses. Or coworkers……. 😬

Things Not To Do While Driving Part 1

*Pick your nose. Also, don’t eat it. That’s gross.

*Apply makeup. Any makeup. Chapstick is not makeup.

*Eat using utensils or dishware. Paper is easier and also recyclable.

*Blindly flail behind your driver’s seat searching for your kid. Don’t worry, he’s still there, hopefully strapped in. Use your rearview mirror.

*Sleep. Most states require drivers to stay awake while behind the wheel.

*Change your clothes. Things have been known to get zipped into clothing while attempting this. Even without zippers, please stay dressed while navigating a car.

Earlier today, I was in a vehicle accident that required me to call 911. Did you know that after calling emergency services, they will send you a customer service survey via text? I did not. For the record, she was wonderful and I gave her five stars.

What are some of your positive experiences with 911 operators?

Here is the link they provided to share your comments and experiences because they, like all public servants, can always benefit from feedback to learn ways to improve:
