Lucas County Children Services celebrated 24 graduates who grew up in foster care who overcame adversity, defied the odds, and are ready to step into adulthood.

It’s almost time for the graduation celebration! Caseworkers are putting the final touches on the gifts for our youth. We are very proud of them! If you’d like to know more about working with our independent living teens, stop by the parade route at Summit and Adams downtown at noon.

We're excited to welcome Randy Muth, Executive Director of Lucas County Children Services, as our guest speaker at this Monday's luncheon!

Randy brings nearly 30 years of experience in child protection across Ohio, having led agencies in Wayne, Mahoning, and now Lucas County since joining as executive director in 2023. A U.S. Army veteran and juris doctorate from The University of Akron, Randy has been a longtime advocate for children and families at both the regional and statewide level. This is a conversation you won't want to miss.

The excitement is ramping up before tomorrow’s big graduation celebration! Twenty-four youth who’ve been in foster care through LCCS have graduated from high school, and we are throwing a party in their honor-complete with lots of gifts donated by our employees.

Special thanks to Nancy Stafford and the congregation of Hope Methodist Church in Whitehouse for making and donating 140+ tie blankets. Nancy cuts each kit herself, along with 200+ more blankets done each spring by the Anthony Wayne HS Interact club. That’s a BIG job!!

HUGE thanks to Vicki Duris of Sylvania, whom we’ll call the “great bargain hunter-gatherer.” She found amazing end-of-season deals on 40+ coats and then donated them to the kids LCCS serves to keep them warm later this year!
