Women’s Equality Day | August 26, 2026 💚
On Wednesday, August 26, members of the Toledo (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated joined women across our community in recognizing Women’s Equality Day through advocacy, dialogue, leadership, and civic engagement.
The day began at AAUW Toledo’s “Equity in Action: Breaking Barriers. Building Belonging.” at the National Museum of the Great Lakes. Link Member Lois Bingham Jordan served as moderator, guiding an honest conversation about the progress women have made, the barriers that remain, and the work required to create greater access, opportunity, and belonging.
That evening, the work continued at Women of Toledo’s Annual Women’s Equality Day Forum, an event that recognizes the long struggle for women’s voting rights while creating space to examine how gender intersects with race, socioeconomic status, and other barriers women continue to experience.
Link Member Dr. Brittany Jones participated as a panelist, and Link Member Malaika Bell lead the group through sharing with community our takeaways from the conversation. The Toledo Chapter’s National Trends and Services (NTS) Facet also hosted a voter registration table, a particularly meaningful connection to a day rooted in the history of women fighting for access to the ballot.
Across two community events in one day, our Link Members helped facilitate dialogue, elevate women’s voices, encourage civic participation, and move equity from conversation toward action.
Women’s Equality Day reminds us that progress is something we inherit, protect, and continue.
