🏡 Motivational Monday | A Vision Brought to Life Through Partnership

Last week’s ribbon cutting at Collingwood Green Living was more than a celebration of a new building, it was the celebration of collaboration, vision, and commitment to our seniors and community.

At Lucas Metropolitan Housing, we believe our seniors deserve more than housing. They deserve dignity, respect, stability, and a place they are proud to call home.

The opening of this 75-unit affordable senior housing community represents what can happen when organizations come together with a shared purpose. Through the partnership and dedication of Lucas Metropolitan Housing, National Church Residences, Lucas Housing Services Corporation, community stakeholders, contractors, city leadership, funding partners, and countless individuals behind the scenes, this vision became reality.

Collingwood Green Living was built to help older adults age in place with comfort, safety, wellness opportunities, and connection, all while remaining rooted in the neighborhood and community they helped shape for generations.

Ribbon cuttings are symbolic. They represent doors opening. New beginnings. New opportunities. And for many seniors, this development represents peace of mind and renewed hope.

To every partner, supporter, advocate, team member, and resident who believed in this vision, thank you for helping make a lasting impact in Toledo’s Junction neighborhood.

📰 Feel-Good Friday | Palmer Gardens: Part III — The Final Touches Are Taking Shape

The transformation at Palmer Gardens is entering another exciting phase as crews continue making visible progress throughout the 75-unit affordable housing community.

What began months ago as a renovation, preparation, and rehabilitation is now evolving into completed living spaces that will soon welcome families home.

Across the property, new roofing is being installed while freshly painted walls bring new life into each apartment. Brand-new water heaters have been added, cabinetry installation is beginning, and updated flooring and baseboards are now delivering the finishing touches throughout the units.

With each passing day, Palmer Gardens looks less like a construction project and more like a renewed community built around comfort, dignity, and opportunity.

For Lucas Metropolitan Housing, this redevelopment represents more than renovation work. It reflects an ongoing commitment to preserving quality affordable housing for families across Toledo while continuing to invest in neighborhoods that strengthen the community as a whole.

In just a few short weeks, the first residents are expected to begin moving into their newly renovated homes, a major milestone in the continued revitalization of Palmer Gardens.

And the story is still unfolding.

At Lucas Metropolitan Housing, we recognize that the strength of our communities is built on sacrifice, courage, and service. Today, we honor the heroes whose legacy continues to inspire us to serve others with purpose and compassion.

💙 Feel-Good Friday | Honoring Service, Sacrifice & Community 🇺🇸

As we enter Memorial Day weekend, Lucas Metropolitan Housing proudly recognizes our own Bob Reese, who was recently honored as the featured “Hometown Hero” during the Glass City Wranglers game at the Glass City Center.

Bob served our country in the U.S. Army from August 1976 to August 1979, earning the rank of E5/SP5. His service included time with E Troop, 2nd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment in West Germany, including border duty assignments in Coburg and Hof.

During his military career, Bob served aboard the M551A1 Sheridan and M60A1 RISE, taking on roles including loader, driver, gunner, and tank commander.

Today, Bob continues that same spirit of duty, leadership, and commitment through his service to LMH and our community.

Bob, thank you for your service to our country, your dedication to our organization, and the example you continue to set.

This Memorial Day weekend, we pause with gratitude, reflection, and respect.
