What does it take to overcome a life-changing injury and return to doing what you love?

Earlier this summer, John Mills sat down with us to talk about his love of racing, the devastating accident that caused a significant traumatic brain injury, and the hard work, perseverance, and support that fueled his recovery.

In this video, John shares an encouraging message for fellow survivors. We're grateful for his willingness to share his story and inspire others.

Be sure to join us on Saturday, October 17, when John will be sharing his journey in person! Event details can be found in the comments, and keep an eye out for more videos from John in the weeks ahead.

Cooking Up Confidence!

Participants at the Traumatic Brain Injury Resource Center recently put their culinary skills to work during a group therapy session focused on making quesadillas. From gathering ingredients to preparing and cooking lunch, the activity provided an opportunity to practice important skills such as memory, sequencing, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Relearning how to cook can be an important step toward greater independence for brain injury survivors. Cooking helps build confidence, encourages self-sufficiency, and allows participants to apply cognitive and life skills in a meaningful, real-world setting.

After preparing their meal, everyone gathered to enjoy lunch together, celebrating their accomplishments and strengthening social connections. It was a fun and rewarding afternoon filled with learning, laughter, and great food. 🍽️🧀

For survivors and caregivers alike, understanding the importance of hydration can help support recovery, reduce symptoms, and improve overall quality of life.

And the good news is—hydration doesn’t have to be boring. From calming herbal teas to refreshing summer drinks, there are many ways to stay hydrated throughout the year.
