Weeks 2-4 have been extremely busy!
The TaDS students recently stopped by Life Connection of Ohio's Toledo office and spent time exploring details of their future careers with Frank Thompson and his team. Another field trip brought us to Community Tissue Services in Toledo (now Solvita) to learn about the significant impact of tissue donation on saving and enhancing lives.
The invaluable resources of the Mulford Medical Library on the Health Science Campus were introduced to them with a tour of the facility, as well as a visit to the UToledo SIM Center for an aseptic technique lecture followed by a sterile gowning and gloving practical.
The University of Toledo's own Dr. Joan Duggan popped in to share her mastery of Infectious Disease and Jeremy Sherrill and Nilam P. from Gift of Life Michigan expertly educated the group on Histocompatibility and Virology while Nadine Kalpakidis (HDS/TaDS class of 2016) with Buckeye Transplant Services spent an afternoon presenting on her in depth knowledge of crossmatching and HLA, as well!
The students continue to move forward fiercely in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology - successfully completing their first exam, alongside commencing their clinical observations in the SICU. AND this is just the beginning!
Stay tuned for so much more to come...
If you are interested in participating as a guest lecturer in October or November, please contact me at [email protected] for more information. We would love for you to meet the students and !
