May 17-23, 2026 is known for EMS Week. Here at the Tama County Communications center we want to give our biggest thank you’s to the incredible EMS agencies and first responders that we work along side with in our county who answer the calls every day and every night no matter the time.

Here in Tama County we work along side multiple agencies; Toledo Ambulance, Tama Ambulance, Traer Ambulance, Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance, Dysart Ambulance, Garwin Ambulance, Elberon Ambulance, Montour First Responders, and Clutier First Responders.

We thank all of these agencies for the dedication, sacrifice and most importantly their compassion! All your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed.

Tama County Communication Center is incredibly grateful for our neighboring agencies who always are willing to step in and help out; Grundy Center Ambulance, Reinbeck Ambulance, BCERTS, Gilman First Responders, Belle Plaine Ambulance, and La Porte City Ambulance. We appreciate your teamwork and support. It’s a simple reminder the service goes beyond our county lines.

EMS crews answer calls in the middle of the nights, during holidays, severe weather, and on someone’s worst day. They continue to show up for their communities and even the neighboring communities. We truly appreciate you all more than you know! 💙🚑

Please see the attached release from Tama County Iowa Emergency Management! Tama County will now have a consistent siren activation plan for the entire county. If you hear a siren going off, it is always smart to head indoors and seek more information.

One note: siren activation does not justify use of 911 to inquire on why it was activated. If you want to know why the siren was activated, we urge you to contact Tama County EMA at 641-484-6261! 911 is for emergencies only!
