Mel’s Southland Barber and Beauty is looking for an experienced Barber to join our team. You must have a current license to cut hair and have completed a barber training program. While we focus on hairstyles and cuts for middle aged and older men, you should be comfortable using a variety of hairstyling techniques for different customers including women and children. You must have strong communication and customer service skills; we want all of our customers to enjoy being in our barbershop and leave satisfied with their cut so that they become regular customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Greet clients as they arrive
• Prep clients for their haircut and ask
what type of styling they want
• Share phone answering duties and
set appointments
• Accept Walk In customers
• Cut and style clients’ hair to their
specifications
• Engage in friendly conversation with
all clients
• Keep your station, tools, and
equipment sanitized and in good
condition
• Ensure you have the proper
products in stock for future clients
Requirements and Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
certificate
• Barber or hairstylist license
• Supply your own products and tools
• Strong communication, listening,
and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility
• Organizational and time-
management abilities
• Attention to detail
Hours and Compensation
• Shop is open six days a week. Hours
are Monday through Friday, 9am-
6pm and Saturday, 9am-5pm.
Barber can choose to work between
2-5 days a week and set their own
schedule within these hours.
• Hair cut and style prices are set by
owner with team input. Barber pays
25% of each cut/style to owner.
