Welcome Toledo-Lucas County

Welcome Toledo-Lucas County The Welcome Toledo-Lucas County Initiative works to build a welcoming and inclusive community for immigrants, refugees, and people of diverse cultures.

Welcome TLC is a cross-sector network of government, community, and business leaders, including immigrants, refugees, and people of diverse cultures. We launched in 2014 with resolutions of support by both Lucas County and Toledo City Council. In 2019, Lucas County, through leadership of Welcome TLC, achieved national designation as a Certified Welcoming community, becoming only the second county

in the country and the second community in Ohio to receive the designation. Join the Welcome TLC newsletter to stay in the loop and learn how you can help Toledo-Lucas County build a welcoming and inclusive community for all. https://mailchi.mp/399adfe64035/welcometlc

✨ICYMI: Highlights from last night's "Ask Us About the US Immigration System" panel! 📸

A big thank you to our moderator Janelle Yeager Metzger, our panelists Eugenio Mollo, Kefa Otiso, Mechelle Zarou, and our highly engaged audience. Together, we dove into tough, important questions around:
➡The green card backlog (quotas vs. government delays)
➡Immediate action steps when a community member is detained
➡How immigration parole works (such as status for Afghan allies)
➡Accountability regarding detention conditions

🙏Thank you to everyone who showed up to learn, share, and support our community!✨

ICYMI, don’t forget to check out Henry’s story this

Immigrant Heritage Month gives people across the United States an opportunity to explore our country’s heritage and celebrate the shared diversity that forms the unique story of America.

We are sharing stories showing the way our diverse local communities enrich our daily lives, including this feature on Henry Garcia!

Discover how Henry’s roots in El Salvador and his family's journey inspired him to build a life in Toledo—and how he now dedicates his time to helping Spanish-speaking newcomers navigate vital local resources.

In addition to Pride Month, June is Immigrant Heritage Month. People come to the United States for a variety of reasons and have a wide range of experiences once they arrive. This beautiful volume of poetry is written by immigrants and their children about the joy, pain, struggles, triumphs, and everything in between. If you were ever curious about the immigrant experience and weren’t sure where to start or are an immigrant seeking words that will resonate with your experience, this is the book for you.
