At Friends of the Superior National Forest, we've been working hard alongside U.S. Forest Service-Superior National Forest rangers to build the skills and experience needed to safely lead volunteers into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
Together with Forest Service staff, Student Conservation Association(SCA) volunteers, and Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa(CCMI) crews, we're helping care for the trails, portages, and campsites that make the BWCAW such a special place. The work isn't always easy—we've been soaked by rain, waded chest-deep through flooded portages, and tackled plenty of challenges along the way. But through it all, the laughs, smiles, and sense of purpose have never stopped.
We can't say enough about the incredible rangers who have shared their knowledge, mentorship, and passion for stewardship. Their expertise helps make this work possible.
The wilderness belongs to all of us, and caring for it takes a community. If you've ever wanted to give back to the places you love, now is your chance.
We have volunteer trips coming up, and we'd love to have you join us for an adventure!
