Last week, the students at Pocasset Elementary School wrapped up their Field Day festivities with a little extra fun courtesy of the Tiverton Fire Department!

After a day of activities, games, and plenty of energy, Ladder 2 responded to help everyone cool down in the best way we know how — by setting up the aerial ladder and providing a refreshing spray from above. 🚒

The smiles, laughter, and excitement made for a great ending to an already fantastic day. We always enjoy opportunities to connect with our community, and spending time with the students and staff at Pocasset Elementary was no exception.

Thank you for having us be part of the fun, and we hope everyone enjoyed the well-earned cooldown!

🚒💧 Dry Hydrant Day in Tiverton 💧🚒

Today, Tiverton Fire Department crews were out conducting our monthly dry hydrant inspections and testing. These checks are performed in the middle of each month to ensure our dry hydrants remain operational and capable of providing a reliable water source when needed.

Tiverton has no municipal fire hydrants south of Bulgarmarsh Road. Because of this, firefighting operations in the southern portion of our town depend on tanker trucks shuttling water from available sources to the fire scene.

Our dry hydrants are strategically located at ponds and other large bodies of water, allowing tanker trucks to refill quickly and efficiently. In rural firefighting, one of the most critical factors is the time it takes for a tanker to travel from the fire scene, refill, and return with water. Every minute matters.

By maintaining these dry hydrant sites and ensuring they are ready for service year-round, we can significantly reduce refill times, increase water delivery rates, and improve our ability to protect lives and property throughout Tiverton.

A big thank you to our crews for continuing this important preventive maintenance program and helping keep our water supply system ready when our community needs it most.

This morning, members of the Tiverton Fire Department Honor Guard were honored to participate in the flagpole dedication and flag-raising ceremony at Brookdale Sakonnet Bay.

It was a privilege to join many resident veterans and community members for this special event. We are always proud to support our veterans and honor their service and sacrifice to our nation.

Today, some of our members along with many East Bay Fire Departments and Fire Departments from across the country traveled to Boston to pay our respects to FF. Robert Kilduff Jr, a 24+yr veteran of the Boston Fire Department who died in the line of duty last week while operating at the scene of a structure fire. Our thoughts remain with our brothers and sisters of the Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF and the family and friends of FF. Robert Kilduff Jr.
