Its about that time again guys, we will host our first teen court of the 24-25 school year this October! Be on the lookout for our next set of attorneys 😊

To celebrate our last two cases of the school year, Willingham Baptist Memorial Church fed Teen Court tacos today before hearing their cases. Thank you to a great group of kids for my first Teen Court journey as the YSO and thank you to Willingham for feeding them.

Last Friday we had the honor of having District Attorney Danny Goodman II come down and talk to our TeenCourt group. He discussed different dispositions and possible charges, he talked about new laws and how the death penalty works and his journey to how he got to where he is in his career today. We are thankful that he took the time out of his already busy day for us.

Yesterday was our second Teen Court hearing. I wish you guys could hear that jury room. Those kids have better conflict resolution and communication than some adults! I sure do enjoy watching them grow and learn about the judicial system.

I am pleased to introduce our new set of attorneys and their mentors for our next case.
On the prosecution team is Zamiah Coleman and Neil Leinweber with their mentor, Chance Estes.
On the defense team is Elijah Avery and Camden Chamberlin with their mentor, Mary Ava Hearn.
Be watching for updates periodically. I will be back to the high school next Friday, November 27th during club schedule to go over any questions for our new case. I can’t wait to watch y’all work!

We heard our first teen court case today and to say we are proud would be an understatement. These young adults listened to each witness, heard all the facts in the case and gave a fair judgment. The lawyers in the case asked some really great questions and the jury really deliberated and thought their dispositions though. Each one of these students were respectful the entire time and I think I speak for everyone when I say we are just thankful to be apart of something like this. Great job today guys!

We have a few more Teen Court cases. We will be drawing for another set of lawyers and introducing that soon.
