Honoring the Legacy of Dolly Parton
Today, our hearts are heavy as we join the world in mourning the loss of a true national treasure, Dolly Parton. While the world will remember her iconic voice and timeless songs, those of us in the library community will forever remember her heart.
Dolly once said, "If you can read, even if you can't afford to go to school, you can post-educate yourself in whatever you want to know. The whole world is opened up to you."
Through her Imagination Library, she turned those words into a movement, putting books directly into the hands of children across the world. Here at our library, we see the impact of her vision every single day. Through our local partnership with the Imagination Library, we’ve watched children across our community receive free, high-quality books delivered right to their mailboxes each month—building confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of reading.
Every child who opens a book with her name on the bookplate, every parent who reads a bedtime story because of her generosity, and every library shelf that shines a little brighter today stands as a living testament to her life.
Thank you, Dolly, for believing in local communities, for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with public libraries, and for teaching our children to dream big. Your song will play on in the hearts of young readers for generations to come. 🕊️📚✨
Keep Dolly’s Dream Alive in Our Community
