Update to timing and location of risks. Still expecting two rounds of storms. One this afternoon while the next will be late afternoon into evening and overnight hours. Severe storms likely, with the second round. All hazards possible, including damaging to winds, large hail, and tornadoes. Flash flooding is also possible.

Tick Tuesday Update from Indiana Department of Natural Resources!

TICK TIP TUESDAY: How to safely remove a tick.
You found tick tagging along during a check? No worries. Here’s a gentle, safe removal guide!
1. Find the right tool - Grab fine-tipped tweezers. Pointy tweezers work best, but if you’re in a pinch, regular tweezers work. Just avoid squeezing the tick’s body.
2. Grab close to the head - Place tweezers as close to your skin as possible, ideally near the tick’s mouthparts, to make sure it is fully removed.
3. Pull straight up and slowly - Gently pull upward with steady pressure—no twisting, jerking, or shaking.
4. Cleanse and Soothe - Wash the bite area and your hands again with soap and water. A touch of antiseptic on the bite is also an option.
5. Dispose of the tick - Seal it in tape or a container, submerge it in alcohol, or flush it. Just don’t crush it with your fingers. Fluids in the tick can carry disease-causing pathogens.
6. Stay Alert – For the next few weeks, stay alert. Look out for rashes or flu-like symptoms. If anything feels off, call your doctor and mention when and where you were bitten.
And remember, tick-borne illnesses are rising in Indiana. But with the right preventatives, you can safely enjoy the outdoors!
