Starting up our chipsealing again today we are starting at 500 W and Division. Please be cautious in that area. We are starting off on 500 W and Division to 100 N this road will be temporarily shut down.
We will be moving onto 100 N from 500 W to US 31. Then on 100 N and 31 to 700 W where we will be heading back down to Division.

Just as on FYI the flood removal site at Steel Parts will NOT accept freezer or refrigerators full of anything they must be empty.

The City of Tipton has opened up the parking lot of the old Steel Parts building @ 801 Berryman Pike for flood cleanup. This is open to all residents of Tipton County and City of Tipton. They are open today until Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Things you are allowed to drop off are:
General construction debris, such as flooring, carpeting and other water damaged building materials also appliances and electronics damaged by the flooding.

This is for flood related debris only.

This is not open to contractors this is for residents only.

Roundabout @ SR28 & US31 nightly closures starting 8/28/2026

Overnight lane and ramp closures are planned on State Road 28 at the U.S. 31 interchange in Tipton County. Crews are expanding the truck aprons in the center of the roundabout, making it easier for large vehicles to use.

Not that this is a repeat of what we just experienced, however, there is a slight threat of heavy rain today. With the ground being as saturated as it is, there is potential for some flooding.

A Flood Watch is in effect for the northern half of central Indiana from 2 PM today to 8 AM Thursday. The potential for heavy rain on saturated soils will result in an elevated flash flooding threat. Never drive through flooded roads.

Safety Guidance:
* Never drive through flooded roadways; Turn Around Don't Drown.
* Ensure you have multiple ways to receive warning notifications day and night.

ATTENTION---
We were informed today that the Railroad will be closing CR 500 East from SR28 to CR200 S on Tuesday, August 18th and will reopen on Thursday, August 20th. We will keep you posted if we are informed of any changes.

Good morning! We have received some questions about returning sandbags. You are more than welcome to bring them back out to the highway dept. They can be dumped in the same place where you got the sand. We ask that you empty the bags back into the pile and throw the used bags in the dumpster that will be provided next to the pile.
