It has been a busy day for the Sand Lake Fire Department. Two structure fires and a smoke investigation in a 24-hour period. It started out with a chimney fire on Sharon Hollow that extended into the residence. From there, they responded to Pentecost for a smoke investigation in a residence that ended up being an overheated electrical appliance. The last fire was an assist to Adrian Township Fire department for a well involved attached garage fire that extended into the home. Sand Lake FD members did an awesome job! Their hard work and dedication make SLVFD a great department. Thanks everyone for all you do!

I'm going groundhog hunting.

We received our new Scott X3 pro SCBAs this week. We did some in service training, then went out and performed search and rescue training in an abandon office building in downtown Adrian.
We don't get the opportunity to train like this very often, thank you, to the city of Adrian Fire Department for allowing us to come out and train. We had a good time during the training and became comfortable with the operation of our new SCBAs.

The Grand Rapids Fire Department mourns the loss of Chief David Haverdink of the Hamilton Fire Department, who passed away after being struck by a vehicle while responding to a medical incident in Allegan County. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chief Haverdink’s family, the Hamilton Fire Department, and all those affected by this tragic loss.
