Tioga County Sportsmen for Youth A Fun, Educational, Learning experience for kids ages 8-14. Must be accompanied by an adult.

Come learn about and get hands on experience with Archery, Wildlife, Fishing, Muzzleloader, Trapping, Shotgun and many other stations. The Tioga County Sportsmen for Youth aims to increase the knowledge and practice of hunting skills, marksmanship and other recreational skills that are harmonious with the sport of hunting. In addition, we strive to promote hunter safety and encourage the practice of good sportsmanship and compliance with local, state and federal game laws.

That giant mosquito-looking bug on your porch isn't a giant mosquito. 🦟❌

It's a crane fly—and despite those ridiculously long legs, it's harmless to people.

Adult crane flies don't bite or sting, and they aren't looking for your blood. You often see them around porch lights because they're active in the evening.

Their young, called leatherjackets, live in soil and feed on organic material, while crane flies themselves become food for birds, bats, and other wildlife.

So the next time one lands on your screen:

Don't panic. It's creepy-looking, not dangerous. 🌙🪰

We’ll hear from Pennsylvania Game Commission Bear Biologist Brandon Snavely and learn more about:

🐾 Bear biology and behavior
🐾 Hunting opportunities
🐾 And more!

You’ll also have the chance to ask questions and see a live bear up close!

Over 4000 kids have participated.. 😊 Kids received
hats and shirts donated by Cowanesque Lake Realty ..and Hall's Homes and Lumber.
They each took home a bluebird box made by the "Chemung County Conservation District"and engraved with the YFD logo by "Roosa Engraving"!
