Moreau Grand Electric Cooperative This institution is an equal opportunity provider, employer and lender. At the present time, Moreau-Grand serves the counties of Corson, Dewey and Ziebach.

Moreau-Grand also serves the Cheyenne River and portions of Standing Rock Indian Reservations. The cooperative has held an annual meeting of its members each year since 1949. Moreau-Grand Electric, along with seven other cooperatives, are members of Rushmore Electric Power Cooperative working together we pool our resources to purchase electricity. From its meager beginnings in the late 1940's the cooperative has grown into a modern electric utility. Technology has been the largest impact on the utility industry. Modern hydraulics on our service vehicles have saved countless man-hours and prevented numerous injuries. The use of fiberglass in the equipment helps keep outages to a minimum and line crews safe. Electronics is another area where the cooperative has benefited from technology. Computers have changed how we enter member information and keep records. Early record keeping and office work was kept in hand written paper ledgers. Staking sheets and maps were meticulously hand drawn. A card system was followed by 5 computer systems. Some were so loud that it was necessary to carpet the walls to keep the sound down. In the late 1990’s the cooperative migrated from member read meters to a type of meter and computer system that could read member usage and send the reading back to the office on a daily basis. Radio controlled remote switching enables the cooperative to minimize outage time. All of the progress made during the last six decades would not have been possible without the cooperatives most valuable asset, its member owners. From the members who formed and continue to believe in the cooperative spirit, to the board members who make the tough decisions and employees who keep the lights on. Some members have noticed a helicopter flying around along power lines lately.

We are flying over the entire system over the next several weeks to assess the state of our grid.

Moreau-Grand is committed to replacing old poles and lines and updating infrastructure, constantly improving service reliability for the membership.

ATTENTION MEMBERS

MDU will run short outages 3 consecutive nights (September 14-16) at the Glenham Substation east of Mobridge. This will shut power off to our northern substations (except for Keldron and McIntosh) during those outages. This basically means that members north of the Moreau River other than Keldron and McIntosh areas will be affected. Virtually all members south of the Moreau River will be unaffected during these outages.

The outages on the 14th and 15th will begin at 11:00 PM MT and end at about 11:30 PM MT. The final outage on September 16th will begin at 9:00 PM MT and end at about 9:30 PM MT.

MDU will be performing maintenance on the Glenham substation.
While it is unfortunate that these outages are out of our control, we appreciate your understanding.

ATTENTION WHITEHORSE MEMBERS

There will be a planned outage today, September 8th, from 9:30 AM MT to 11:30 AM MT on the line that feeds Whitehorse. Members fed by that line south of Timber Lake will be affected, including the community of Whitehorse and the east end of On The Tree Road.

Crews will be replacing a pole damaged by lightning from the weekend and performing other maintanence.
