PSA this is for the Yorkville Ohio Police Department, not Yorkville Illinois, as some people still think, message me and Follow this page. Thank you.
I have held off from even posting anything, but with all the calls, text, Facebook messenges, and people stopping me on the street. I’ve been getting flooded with questions due to the towns s**t stirring page, so I feel it’s time to address the elephant in the room….
At the December 12th council meeting, I submitted my letter of resignation for retirement from Yorkville that was effective January 3rd.
It has been a privilege and honor to serve the residents in my home town as the Chief, and an officer, my entire career. As well as the surrounding communities. Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years
If you want more of an explanation, you can continue reading.
In submitting my resignation, I did give them an option for me to stay, by righting several wrongs that have been done.
Both Mayors, outgoing and incoming, didn’t feel it was important enough to have a meeting to discuss the option, accept my resignation, or discuss other opinion’s before the deadline.
This has resulted in the resignation/offer left in limbo, and the rest of the officers being laid off.
It wasn’t the circumstances on how I wanted to do this, but I was really left with no choice. I have made numerous attempts to allow them to fix the issues, but has been voted down or discarded every time.
For the past year, I’ve contemplated this decision over the stress that started to cause me health issues with the battle I’ve had to have the past three years on taking my accumulated vacation, comp, and sick time away from me, then from all employees. Cutting of scheduling part-time officers, $8000 deductible added to our insurance, to save $3000 on the total yearly premium. Pay increases promised that never came and not rescheduling the part time, resulting in losing officers. Having to take on a second full time job to cover my family on a better insurance plan .
But I held off from doing so for the residence, the officers of the department ,and to spite a few people that wanted nothing more for that to happen.
I have done nothing but put this community first over the years. From helping with snow removal, cleaning up during floods, major water breaks, etc. To operating the water, and sewage plants for a year along with the police department, when the town had no operators.
I would go into more detail, but I think you get the idea.
With all this being said, I will continue to serve the communities as an officer with the Village of Tiltonsville Police Department.
Respectfully,
Chief John Morelli.
