Tiffin Police Department Investigating Aggravated Burglary/Felonious Assault Incident

At approximately 2:57 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, officers from the Tiffin Police Department responded to a reported burglary in progress at Tiffin West Apartments, located at 1730 W. Market Street. Police dispatch was informed that multiple individuals had been injured during the incident.

Upon arrival, officers located four adult male victims suffering from significant facial and head injuries. Preliminary investigation revealed that the injuries were sustained during an assault involving eight male suspects who allegedly forced their way into an apartment and violently attacked the occupants using their fists and various objects as weapons.

The investigation has determined that the incident stemmed from an earlier altercation that occurred late Friday evening in the area of the former Big Lots parking lot. During that incident, a male victim was reportedly assaulted by a group of individuals who allegedly stole his hat and chain necklace before leaving the area.

In an attempt to recover his property, the victim and four acquaintances later went to the apartment complex and spoke with a female at the apartment door. During that interaction, three additional individuals arrived at the location. Detectives believe that five of the eight suspects subsequently forced entry into the apartment after the door was closed and began assaulting the individuals inside.

A resident inside the apartment was able to contact 9-1-1, prompting all eight suspects to flee the scene in vehicles prior to officers' arrival.

All four injured victims were transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital for treatment of facial and head injuries. Due to the severity of his injuries, one victim was later transferred to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo for additional medical care.

Members of the Tiffin Police Department Criminal Division were notified and immediately initiated an extensive investigation. Detectives have conducted numerous interviews with victims and witnesses and continue to collect and process evidence.

Investigators have recovered items believed to be connected to the incident, including the stolen hat and chain necklace. Detectives have also identified an interior surveillance camera within the apartment that may have some potential evidentiary value.

As a result of the investigation, two of the individuals believed to have forcibly entered the residence have been taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Burglary, a first-degree felony. Additional criminal charges are anticipated pending further investigation and consultation with the Seneca County Prosecutor's Office. Detectives are actively working to identify and locate the remaining suspects involved in the incident.

At this stage of the investigation, the identities of all victims, witnesses, and suspects are being withheld to protect the integrity of the investigation and to allow investigators the opportunity to identify and interview all involved parties. Investigators believe the individuals directly involved range in age from approximately 18 to 21 years old, although additional suspects who have not yet been located may be older.

This was a violent and brazen attack that resulted in serious injuries to multiple individuals. Our Officers and Detectives have worked tirelessly throughout the early morning hours and continue their work today to identify those responsible and bring them to justice. While two suspects are already in custody, we remain committed to locating the remaining individuals involved and pursuing all appropriate criminal charges.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Tiffin Police Department Criminal Division at 419-447-2323.

CONGRATS ZACK AND CARRIE!!

I had the immense honor of officiating the wedding ceremony of Zack Preston and Carrie Reiss this morning just outside Tiffin City Hall. Beneath clear blue skies and surrounded by the warmth of family, the couple exchanged their vows in a beautiful outdoor ceremony filled with love, laughter, and heartfelt emotion.

As a gentle breeze moved through the gazebo and sunlight filtered through, Zack and Carrie stood hand in hand, promising to support, encourage, and cherish one another for a lifetime. The smiles on the faces of family members said it all. This was more than a ceremony; it was the beginning of a new chapter and a celebration of two lives becoming one.

Moments like these serve as a reminder that some of life's most meaningful events are often the simplest: family gathered together, love openly shared, and promises made from the heart. It was truly a privilege to witness their union and to play a small role in such a special day.

Congratulations to Zack and Carrie. May your future be filled with happiness, adventure, and a lifetime of cherished memories together.

Gratitude to All Those Who Helped Bring K9 Madison to Tiffin PD

Madison is a three-year-old black Labrador Retriever serving as a dual-purpose K9 for the Tiffin Police Department. She is specially trained in Electronic Storage Device Detection (ESDD) and also serves as a comfort dog for the department and community.

Madison was provided to the Tiffin Police Department by the United States Secret Service at no cost to the City of Tiffin. In early May, Detective Eric England traveled to the National Computer Forensics Institute in Hoover, Alabama, where he met his new partner. Madison had already completed her specialized training and even assisted instructors in training Detective England during the two-week program. The team received their training through Jordan Detection K9 of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Together, Detective England and Madison work to combat child exploitation and human trafficking by locating hidden electronic storage devices that may contain critical evidence. These devices can range from desktop computers and cellular phones to microSD cards capable of storing thousands of images and files related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

In addition to providing Madison at no cost, several organizations have generously contributed to her ongoing care and operational readiness. Operation Underground Railroad (OUR Rescue) has committed to covering Madison’s food, veterinary expenses, annual recertifications, and other care and maintenance costs. OUR Rescue is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting law enforcement agencies in the fight against human trafficking and child exploitation. Through the generosity of its donors, the organization provides millions of dollars in assistance to law enforcement agencies each year.

Another nonprofit organization, Protecting K9 Heroes, has supplied Detective England with a specialized emergency medical kit containing first-aid equipment designed to provide immediate care for Madison in the event of an injury or emergency while on duty.

Thanks to the generous support of the United States Secret Service, OUR Rescue, Protecting K9 Heroes, and the many donors who support these organizations, the Tiffin Police Department has gained a valuable resource in the fight against child exploitation and human trafficking. Madison’s unique abilities will not only benefit the citizens of Tiffin but will also assist neighboring communities and law enforcement agencies throughout the region.

The Tiffin Police Department extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make this partnership possible.

Included in this post are several recent photos of Detective England and Madison during a visit to the Friendship Club. The photos capture Madison demonstrating her specialized electronic storage device detection skills, as well as spending time interacting with members of the Friendship Club. These moments highlight not only Madison’s important investigative role in combating child exploitation and human trafficking, but also her ability to serve as a comfort dog and build positive connections within our community.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM, OFFICER CLARK!

Today was another great day for the Tiffin Police Department as we officially welcomed Officer Ayden Clark to our team. Officer Clark was sworn in this afternoon by Mayor Lee Wilkinson, officially beginning his career in law enforcement and his commitment to serving the residents of Tiffin.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was seeing Ayden surrounded by the people who matter most to him, his family, to support and celebrate this accomplishment. Additionally, several members of the Tiffin Police Department came to celebrate Ayden and welcome him to the team. In a special moment, his fiancé had the honor of pinning on his badge, a reminder that behind every officer is a strong support system that helps make this profession possible.

Starting Monday, June 1, Ayden will begin field training with our officers, where he’ll gain firsthand experience and continue developing the skills needed to serve our community with professionalism and integrity. The future of this profession depends on dedicated individuals willing to step forward and serve others, and we are proud to have Ayden joining our department. We look forward to watching him grow in this career and become an important part of our team.

Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Officer Clark to the Tiffin Police Department.

THANK YOU VFW POST #2858

Today, the Tiffin Police Department was honored to be included in the 5th Annual VFW Day of Service as members of VFW Seneca Post #2858 and their families delivered lunches to local first responders throughout Seneca County.

The VFW Day of Service is a nationwide effort that highlights how our veterans continue to serve their communities long after their military service has ended, embracing the “Still Serving” spirit in meaningful ways.

We want to extend our sincere thanks to the veterans and families of VFW Post #2858 for their kindness, generosity, and continued commitment to serving others. Your thoughtfulness and support mean a great deal to the men and women of the Tiffin Police Department and to all first responders across our community.

We are grateful not only for the meals, but for the continued example of service, sacrifice, and community partnership that you represent every day. Thank you for thinking of us and for all you do for Tiffin and Seneca County.
