Transformation Life Center

Transformation Life Center The Seneca County Council on Homelessness is a nonprofit uniting the community to combat homelessness.

Through initiatives like the Transformation Life Center, we provide emergency housing, and resources to help individuals achieve self-sufficiency. The Seneca County Council on Homelessness (SCCoH) is a nonprofit organization committed to helping individuals move from reliance on others to achieving self-sufficiency. Governed by a dedicated Board of Directors, the council works to unite community l

eaders, policymakers, business executives, educators, faith-based organizations, and social service providers to effectively and sustainably combat homelessness in Seneca County. One of the council's significant initiatives is the Transformation Life Center, which offers emergency housing tailored for women and children experiencing homelessness. This program not only provides a safe place to stay but also assists women in their path to independence by connecting them with vital resources. Furthermore, the Transformation Life Center offers life skills training and budgeting workshops to empower clients, aiding their journey toward self-sufficiency. The council's mission highlights the critical role of community collaboration and resource availability in addressing homelessness and fostering self-sufficiency among the most vulnerable individuals in Seneca County.

Today is World Hunger Day, a reminder that food insecurity continues to impact families and individuals in every community, including our own.

At Transformation Life Center, access to consistent meals and fresh food can make a meaningful difference for guests working to rebuild stability during difficult seasons of life.

We are deeply grateful for the organizations and community partners who work tirelessly to help feed our neighbors every day, including:

đź’š Christ's Church at Tiffin
đź’š
đź’š FISH Food Pantry

We also want to extend a special thank you to the White Family Charitable Fund for supporting TLC this year with grant funding dedicated to providing fresh food for shelter guests. Their support helps ensure families and individuals staying at the shelter have access to healthier, nourishing meal options.

We need a little extra help this week getting a room ready at the shelter for an incoming family arriving on Friday.

If you have any availability to help with cleaning, organizing, or putting together welcome supplies, including some baby items, we would really appreciate the support. Even a small amount of time can make a big difference for a family entering shelter!

Please message us on Facebook, email [email protected], or contact our Executive Director at 419-455-1120 if you’re able to help.

At Transformation Life Center, our mission goes beyond providing emergency shelter.

We work alongside women and families experiencing homelessness as they navigate crisis, rebuild stability, and work toward long-term goals. Along with safe shelter, guests may receive support related to housing, employment, transportation, life skills, mental health resources, financial literacy, and reconnecting with community supports.

Every family’s situation is different, which is why individualized support and consistent encouragement remain at the center of our work.

Homelessness can happen for many reasons, but no one should have to face it alone.

Thank you to the staff, volunteers, donors, grantors, and community members who help make this work possible every day.

If you would like to support our mission, you can volunteer as a Shelter Helper here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C044BAFAC2DA2FCCE9-63292571-shelter #/

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

As we reflect on sacrifice and service, we are also reminded that many veterans across the country continue to face housing instability after returning home. In Ohio alone, 589 veterans were experiencing homelessness during the 2024 Point-in-Time Count, a statewide effort to better understand homelessness on a single night in January. While that number reflects a 5% decrease from the year before, hundreds of veterans in our state are still without a stable place to call home.

Nationally, more than 32,000 veterans experienced homelessness in 2024. Many face barriers tied to affordable housing shortages, physical disabilities, mental health challenges, PTSD, or difficulties transitioning back to civilian life after service.

At Transformation Life Center, we believe every person deserves dignity, safety, and a place to call home. Today, we remember those we have lost and remain grateful for all who served.

We’d like to take a moment today to give a huge shoutout to all of the volunteers who helped with our latest initiative, Love in Every Spoonful.

Community projects like this are only possible because of people willing to give their time, energy, and compassion to help others. We are so grateful for everyone who played a part in making this initiative possible!

Be sure to check out their page and give them a follow to see all the amazing things this project is doing this year.

Thank you to Beltone of Tiffin, Ohio, for generously donating Bob Evans catering for the guests at Transformation Life Center.

The timing could not have been more perfect. Shortly after the food arrived, several of our households returned from a grocery shopping trip and were thrilled to see prepared food ready after putting everything away for the day. Sometimes a prepared meal and one less thing to worry about can make a long day feel a little lighter!

We are incredibly grateful for community partners who think of our guests and help create moments of comfort and care right here in Seneca County. Thank you again for your kindness and generosity!

Today is National Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day, and we’re excited to share a look at one of TLC’s growing wellness initiatives as it enters its very first growing season! 🌱

Thanks to support from the Meshech Frost Grant in 2025, Transformation Life Center launched three raised garden beds focused on wellness, nutrition, and hands-on learning opportunities for shelter guests.

Now growing for the season, each garden has its own theme:
🍝 Our “Italian Pasta” garden includes tomatoes, basil, parsley, peppers, onions, broccoli, and oregano.

🥗 Our “Salad Garden” features lettuce, spinach, Swiss chard, beets, spinach, onions, sunflowers, and other fresh greens.

🍓 We’ve also started a small fruit garden with strawberries and other fruits for shelter guests to enjoy as the season continues.

We’re already beginning to see early growth throughout the gardens, including sprouting sunflowers and onions, developing peppers, and leafy greens beginning to fill in the beds.

These gardens are about more than fresh produce. They create opportunities for guests to spend time outdoors, learn new skills, build routines, and experience the satisfaction of growing something themselves.

We are incredibly grateful to the Meshech Frost Charitable Trust for helping us launch this initiative and create new opportunities for wellness, nourishment, and connection at TLC.

A little “behind the curtain” look at something most people never see. This storage shed may not look exciting at first glance, but it represents something incredibly important: community impact in action.

Special thank you to Leadership Seneca County Class of 2023. Their work brought together local businesses, organizations, and community members to create a lasting impact that continues to benefit families today.

The plaque in the second photo represents just a portion of the many people and organizations who stepped up to support this effort. Their kindness continues to ripple outward in ways that often go unseen.

Because of the generosity of local organizations, businesses, grantors, and individual donors, The Transformation Life Center can purchase and safely store items that directly improve the quality of life for shelter guests and families rebuilding stability.

Inside this space are things like:
• Bikes that help adults get to work, appointments, and job interviews
• Toddler play equipment that gives children a chance to simply be kids
• Lawn chairs and outdoor items families can borrow for community events and activities
• Strollers, car seats, toys, and everyday essentials that help reduce barriers during difficult seasons of life
And perhaps most importantly, these items are protected from the weather and available when families need them.

Real impact is not always flashy. Sometimes it looks like a child having a safe place to play. Sometimes it looks like reliable transportation to work. Sometimes it looks like having one less thing to worry about while trying to rebuild your life.

Action does make a difference. Thank you to everyone who continues to invest in our community and the people within it.

Transformation Life Center is proud to serve as an Access Point for Region 2 through Ohio’s Coordinated Entry system.

What does that mean?
In addition to providing emergency shelter, TLC also helps connect individuals and families experiencing homelessness to housing resources, shelter programs, and support services throughout the region. As an Access Point, we help people begin the process of navigating available homelessness and housing assistance systems.

Homelessness cannot be solved by one organization alone. Coordinated Entry helps communities work together so people can more effectively access the support and resources they need. We are grateful to be part of a broader regional effort working toward stability, housing, and hope for our community. If you are facing homelessness, you don't need to do it alone. Call us today at 567-220-6533 and ask for access point services!
