The County of Ventura intends to pursue a Prohousing Designation from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). The Prohousing Designation recognizes jurisdictions that are committed to accelerating housing production, removing barriers to development, and implementing housing-friendly policies. The County is committed to a transparent and inclusive public process. An informational webinar is scheduled for May 19th. City of Thousand Oaks - Local Government City Council unanimously approve staff to draft an impact fee waiver ordinance for 100% for sale housing last night. What this means is the affordable homes for sale on Hillcrest & Erbes being developed by the Peoples Self Help Housing Development program will be able to begin a deliberation of city costs. More significantly is the commitment to affordable homeownership by the city.Thank you to Jackson Piper for your advocacy at the meeting.

Construction is set to begin this spring on an affordable housing development between Agoura Road and the 101 Freeway just east of Kanan Road, which will add 54 income-restricted apartments to Agoura Hills. On March 26 the city hosted a webinar with developer National CORE to update residents and address questions—including concerns about population density in a very-fire-hazard area already prone to traffic congestion.

The four-story building, to be located at 29125 Agoura Road, will be split evenly between two-bedroom and three-bedroom units, all reserved for households qualifying as low-income or very low-income. We Need Your Voice! The Thousand Oaks City Council will consider directing staff to draft an impact fee waiver ordinance for 100% affordable for-sale housing. This is a crucial step to reduce costs and make homeownership possible for low- and moderate-income families.

This ordinance would support Hillcrest, a for-sale townhome project that will provide 59 homes for low-income buyers and up to 19 homes for moderate-income buyers (120% AMI and below). The City acquired this site to expand affordable homeownership opportunities, and impact fee relief will help close the financing gap and get these homes built faster.
