Thorn Township Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the township along with mutual aid departments.

Prior to arrival, the homeowner utilized a garden hose and was able to contain much of the fire. Fire personnel assisted with overhaul operations and checked for any extension to help ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

We appreciate the assistance from our mutual aid partners and the efforts of everyone involved on scene.

🚒💦 Today our Rescue crew had the opportunity to help some local preschoolers cool off and celebrate the end of the school year!

Nothing better than smiles, laughter, and a little water on a warm day. We’re proud to be part of such a great community and appreciate the chance to spend time with the kids.

K12 saw training with two of our new firefighters today. Crews worked on cutting techniques, tool control, communication, and coordinated movements while operating in full PPE. Good hands-on reps building confidence and familiarity with the saws in a realistic training environment.

The future of the fire service is built on training days like this. Great work by everyone involved. 🚒🔥

Over the last two days, B Shift has been conducting search and rescue training utilizing our conex training prop. Crews worked on oriented searches, victim location techniques, firefighter survival skills, communications, and navigating limited-visibility environments while operating in full PPE and SCBA.

Realistic hands-on training like this helps build confidence, teamwork, and readiness for the incidents we may face in our community. Great work by all personnel involved and thank you to everyone who helped set up the training area. 🚒🔥

R-291 and Chief 290 assisted Heath FD on a working fire in a 3 story apartment building.

Today members of Thorn Township Fire Department participated in Grain Bin Rescue Training taught by the Ohio Fire Academy at Sheridan High School.

Crews trained on grain entrapment rescue, victim packaging, harness systems, and coordinated rescue operations in a simulated grain bin environment. Training for low-frequency, high-risk incidents helps ensure our personnel are prepared when called upon.
