McDuffie County School System McDuffie County School System official page The county's total population is 23,000 and includes the City of Thomson, and the Town of Dearing.

The McDuffie County School System serves 3,500 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade in east central Georgia, about 30 miles west of Augusta. The school system has 6 school campuses: Dearing Elementary (PK-5), Maxwell Elementary (PK-1), Thomson Elementary (2-3), Norris Elementary (4-5), Thomson-McDuffie Middle (6-8), and Thomson High (9-12). We also have alternative education programs,

including the McDuffie Achievement Center and GNETS psycho-educational services. Our district features such innovative efforts as a 4X4 high school schedule and satellite interactive distance learning. Administrators, teachers, and students are eager to share information with other school districts and anyone else interested.

Thomson High School recently held Senior Parent Night. School staff shared information about graduation requirements, college application deadlines, and scholarships. The vendor for class rings and letter jackets was also on hand. The school will also hold classroom meetings and one-on-one sessions in the coming weeks to ensure all seniors have the information they need in order to graduate and move on to their chosen next chapter in life.

The National Security Agency Georgia at Ft. Gordon hosted a Freedom 250 Summer of Service event, which included collection from its workforce of school supplies for students, as well and classroom wish-lists for teachers. They donated to many CSRA schools, including ours in McDuffie County. First grade students at Dearing Elementary School showed off some of the donated supplies that will be distributed at the school. Thanks to NSA Georgia for the generous donation.
