The Citizen’s Police Academy will be conducting some training at the old school on Guill Street from 6-8p with the use of some pyrotechnics. If you hear it or this sounds fun the next Citizen’s Police academy will be in October but it’s not to early to register.

TPD seized a 3D printer being used to manufacture “switches” which converts a handgun from semi-automatic to fully automatic and multiple already produced switches today from the 100blk of White Oak Street Ext.

4-Month Review of the School Zone Cameras

I hope that everyone can see—both from these numbers and from driving around Thomson—that traffic is still flowing, but doing so more consistently with the posted speed limits. For those who asked when the cameras were first implemented: yes, these numbers include two of my officers, and they paid their citations in full, individually.

Another expected benefit of the school zone cameras was a reduction in vehicle crashes. Comparing the same time frame in 2024 to this year, the total number of crashes increased slightly from 47 to 50. However, the number of crashes during school hours (7:00 a.m.–3:45 p.m.) decreased from 27 to 22.

Although the numbers are trending in the right direction, we won’t be truly satisfied until they read zero.
