đźš’ STRUCTURE FIRE: HARPETH HILLS DRIVE 6/3/26 đźš’
Units were dispatched to a structure fire on Harpeth Hills Drive at 9:52 a.m. after a neighbor called 911 due to seeing smoke coming from the home. Squad 22 arrived on scene to find smoke coming from a side window and the roof. Fortunately, the fire was contained to a single room because the bedroom door was closed, and firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
Two dogs and a snake were safely removed from the home and are now in the care of friends and family. A total of 15 firefighters responded and brought the fire under control quickly. Four stations responded to the incident, with Station 19 providing station coverage during the response.
One firefighter sustained a minor laceration while operating on scene. No other injuries were reported.
The homeowner’s decision to keep the bedroom door closed prevented the fire from spreading beyond the room of origin. A closed door helps slow the spread of smoke and fire, providing valuable extra time for occupants to escape. This simple action likely contributed to the survival of the animals inside the home.
While closed doors are important during the day, they are especially important at night. Smoke does not reliably wake sleeping individuals, so remember: “Close Before You Doze.”
