The Thomasville Police Department is proud to announce the successful completion of the 2026 Citizens Police Academy, which wrapped up on June 9. Over the past eight weeks, our participants dedicated their time to learning more about policing, community safety, and the day‑to‑day work that goes into serving Thomasville. Their engagement, curiosity, and partnership made this year’s academy truly special.

🚨 SOUTH CAROLINA MAN CHARGED IN INVESTIGATION INVOLVING JUVENILE VICTIM 🚨

Thomasville, NC - On May 6, 2026, a School Resource Officer with the Thomasville Police Department received information regarding an inappropriate relationship involving a juvenile female and an adult male. Detectives with the Thomasville Police Department, in coordination with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, immediately began an investigation into the matter.

During the investigation, authorities identified the suspect as 31-year-old Sean Patrick McDonald of Loris, SC. Investigators determined that McDonald traveled to Thomasville on multiple occasions to meet with the juvenile victim.

On May 15, 2026, the Horry County Police Department, along with the United States Marshal's Service, took McDonald into custody without incident. McDonald has waived extradition and will be transferred to Davidson County to face charges.

Sean Patrick McDonald has been charged with:
Statutory R**e of a Child 15 Years of Age or Younger
Two Counts of Statutory S*x Offense
Solicitation of a Minor by Computer

Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

Last evening, area law enforcement agencies joined together with members of the community in Thomasville for another incredible Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics North Carolina event!

The Torch Run continues to showcase the strong partnership between law enforcement, supporters, athletes, and families — all coming together for one mission: supporting the athletes of Special Olympics North Carolina.

The Thomasville Police Department is proud to support the Special Olympics of North Carolina, and we want to remind everyone that our Benefit Golf Tournament is happening this Thursday, May 9!

🚨 UPDATE – MISSING JUVENILES LOCATED SAFELY 🚨

The Thomasville Police Department is pleased to report that the two missing juveniles, Heavenly Faith Ann Barnett (14) and Sherman Allen Bush Jr. (17), have been safely located.

They were found on Finch Farm Road by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office for their partnership and assistance in helping bring these children to safety. We also appreciate the community’s support and vigilance throughout this situation.

The Thomasville Police Department is continuing to ask for the public’s help in locating two missing juveniles:

The juveniles were last seen in the area of Walmart at 1585 Liberty Drive at approximately 11:00 a.m. Officers are actively searching for the juveniles in that area.

🚨 MISSING JUVENILES – PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUESTED 🚨

The Thomasville Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating two missing juveniles:

Heavenly Faith Ann Barnett, age 14
Sherman Allen Bush Jr., age 17

On April 28, 2026, at approximately 2:11 p.m., officers responded to a missing person call on James Avenue. It was reported that Heavenly Barnett was dropped off at Thomasville High School earlier that morning. School officials later confirmed that she did not attend classes.

Further investigation, including school surveillance footage, revealed that Heavenly left campus shortly after arrival with Sherman Allen Bush Jr. The two were last seen walking west on Unity Street.

Description:

Heavenly Barnett was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, blue jeans, black shoes and now has pink hair.
Sherman Bush was last seen wearing a cream-colored hoodie dark-colored pants and has noticeable blonde streaks in his hair.

Both juveniles have been entered into NCIC as missing, and a BOLO has been issued to surrounding agencies.

At this time, their whereabouts are unknown. It is believed the two may be together.
