This week, we’re recognizing something a little different—the Thomaston Historical Foundation.

The Thomaston Historical Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the historic Old Marengo County High School, an important part of our town’s heritage. Through festivals, community events, and other fundraisers held throughout the year, the foundation works to raise money for the upkeep, restoration, and preservation of this treasured landmark.

Their dedication helps ensure that future generations can appreciate and learn from Thomaston’s rich history. We are grateful for the volunteers and supporters who give their time and effort to keep this piece of our community alive.

If you have the opportunity, attend one of their upcoming events, support their mission, and help preserve Thomaston’s history for years to come.

The Thomaston Historical Foundations next event is the Watermelon Festival which is scheduled to be held on June 26th, 2027!🍉

Town Hall will be CLOSED Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day.

🗑️ Waste Management will run as scheduled.

🚧 ROAD IMPROVEMENTS ARE COMING TO THOMASTON! 🚧

You may soon begin to see construction crews and road work taking place throughout the Town of Thomaston! 🦺🚜

We are excited to announce that the Town of Thomaston has received a grant from the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) to re-surface multiple streets within the town limits! 🎉

This is a BIG investment in our community and will help make our roads safer, smoother, and more enjoyable for residents, businesses, and everyone traveling through Thomaston. ❤️

As this work begins, we ask everyone to please have patience with our construction crews and give them plenty of room to work safely. There may be temporary delays, lane restrictions, or other inconveniences while the improvements are underway.

👉 And if your street isn’t included in Phase 1 — DON’T LOSE HOPE!

This is just PHASE 1 of the project. We are continuing to work hard and pursue additional funding with the goal of being able to re-surface even more streets throughout Thomaston in Phase 2.

We know there are many roads in our community that need attention, and we are committed to doing everything we can to improve them — one phase at a time. 🛣️

🌟 Business of the Week 🌟

This week, the Town of Thomaston is proud to recognize the United States Post Office – Thomaston as our Business of the Week!

The Thomaston Post Office has been serving our community for well over a century.
One of Thomaston’s founders, Charles Brooks Thomas, served as the community’s first postmaster. The town was later named in his honor, and when Thomaston was incorporated in 1901, Thomas became its first mayor.

Today, the Thomaston Post Office continues to play an important role in our community, connecting residents, supporting local businesses, and providing dependable service every day.

We are grateful for the dedicated employees who serve our town and for the rich history the Thomaston Post Office represents. Thank you for being an important part of our community!

🎉 THOMASTON — IT’S OFFICIAL! DAVE’S MARKET IS COMING BACK! 🎉

Well… Y’ALL GUESSED IT! 👀🛒

We’ve had SO many great guesses over the last few days, and we have absolutely loved seeing everyone’s theories, comments, and excitement!

And if you guessed Dave’s Market is returning to Thomaston… YOU GUESSED RIGHT! 🎉❤️

A familiar name. A familiar place. And a piece of Thomaston history is getting a new chapter. ❤️

Many years ago, the old Marengo County High School Gymnasium was transformed into Dave’s Market. After serving our community for years, the store eventually closed — but the story doesn’t end there.

After a tremendous amount of work, dedication, and a few setbacks along the way, Dave Oliver is bringing Dave’s Market back to Thomaston! 🛒

And we couldn’t be more excited.

Dave’s Market will offer a great meat market, fresh produce, groceries, and more — truly making it a one-stop shop for our community and surrounding areas.

And the prices? Cost + 10%.

Friendly faces.
Hometown service.
And that small-town feel we all love. ❤️

We want to give a very special THANK YOU to David Oliver, owner of Dave’s Market, for believing in Thomaston, investing in our community, and showing such commitment to bringing this store back.

There’s something especially meaningful about seeing this building come back to life. The building itself is a large part of Thomaston, Alabama’s history, and if you look closely, you can still see pieces of its past — including the old basketball goals from its days as a high school gymnasium. 🏀

Now, a new chapter is about to begin.
