Today, Governor Jeff Landry and I were honored to be joined by a very special young lady who has faced tremendous adversity and met every challenge with remarkable strength, courage, and determination.

I was proud to stand alongside her and her family as Governor Landry signed legislation from the recent session that I authored to create stronger penalties and felony offenses for the creation and dissemination of harmful artificial intelligence-generated images.

This legislation was inspired by the real-world impact that these technologies can have on young people and families, and today's signing served as a reminder of why protecting our children remains so important.

During our visit, Ivy shared with Governor Landry that she hopes to become a crime scene investigator one day. After seeing her resilience, intelligence, and determination firsthand, I would say she is already off to a great start.

Proud to stand with Louisiana Sportsman to strengthen our constitutional freedoms while on the water. I appreciate the leaders of Wildlife and Fisheries for working together to make this monumental change.

Wildlife agents will no longer be able to randomly stop and board boats in Louisiana waters without reasonable suspicion of a crime.

This week we pause to remember those law enforcement professionals that have given the ultimate sacrifice to our communities. Thank you to the men and women who are sworn to protect us.

I wanted to share a brief update from the Louisiana State Capitol regarding a recent student visit that highlights the value of civic engagement and education.
Although an extremely busy day today at the Louisiana State Capitol, Senator Mike Fesi and I were able to get the chance to speak to a few FFA students from Central Lafourche High School.
Their willingness to make time, even during a packed schedule, created a meaningful experience for the students. It gave them the opportunity to hear directly from elected officials, ask questions, and better understand the day-to-day work that happens during the legislative session.
It is important for these students to visit the Capitol during session to actually see how bills are actually presented and voted upon. Observing the process in real time helps connect classroom learning with real-world decision-making and encourages students to stay informed and involved in their communities.
Thank you for your continued support of opportunities that help students learn firsthand how state government works. Please feel free to reach out if you would like additional details about the visit or future opportunities to engage with students.

I am proud to stand for and support Child Advocacy Centers through out Louisiana. Here in Lafourche Parish, the center plays a crucial role in supporting children who become victims of abuse. Thank you to Lafourche Parish District Attorney Kristine Russell and Lafourche’s Forensic Interviewer Shannon Gros for recognizing our support. Together, we are committed to protecting our children from abusers.

Thank you, Rep. Bryan Fontenot, for your leadership in strengthening Louisiana’s efforts to combat organized crime. HB 53 adds key gambling-related offenses to the state’s racketeering laws, giving law enforcement stronger tools to target criminal enterprises. The bill has passed the House and, if passed into law, will support safer communities across the state.
