The Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department is an all-volunteer department that provides emergency services to the citizens of Thibodaux, Louisiana.

The Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched this morning at 8:55am to a report of a possible house on fire at or near 409 Plater Drive. The first unit arrived at 9:02am and reported heavy smoke and fire showing from a patio area in the rear of the residence. Members quickly went to work to extinguish the fire. Fire extended from the patio area through the soffit into the attic space. Members encountered a segmented attic space with very limited access.
Members worked diligently to extinguish hots spots until all areas were fully extinguished. The last unit cleared the scene at 2:15pm. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers. The home and contents received major damage from the fire and a pet perished in the fire. No other injuries were reported.

The TVFD would like to thank their dedicated members for their continued commitment and great work protecting our community. We would also like to thank the Thibodaux Police Department, Schriever Fire Department, St. John Volunteer Fire, Chackbay Volunteer Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance, and Entergy for their assistance.

The Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department hosted a weekend fire training school where Lafourche Parish Fire Departments came together for instruction by the Louisiana Fire & Emergency Training Academy (FETA). Firefighter Survival, Forcible Entry, Thermal Imaging with Fire Behavior, Vertical Ventilation and Hose & Nozzle work were the topics covered. Members throughout the parish came together and put in some great work in an effort to make themselves better firefighters and provide better protection to the communities they serve. Great work.

The Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department would like to congratulate Charlie Musso as the newly elected Louisiana State Firemen’s Association 3rd District Representative. In addition, Charlie has been appointed by LSFA President Sonny Coffey to serve as Louisiana’s representative to the National Volunteer Fire Council.

The Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department held its annual Grand Marshal / Firemen’s Appreciation Dinner last week, recognizing our 2026 Grand Marshal Mr. Barry Ledet and presenting him with the symbolic Grand Marshal red jacket. Mr. Ledet announced the 2026 Firemen’s Fair net profits, which totaled $1,201,949.00!

Also recognized for their service to the 2026 Firemen’s Fair were Tyler & Trudy Dupre who received the Nathan Oubre Memorial Service Award.

As we look to next year, we are pleased to announce the 2027 Grand Marshal, Mr. Richard Roth. Mr. Roth, is the Founder and CEO of SeaLevel Construction, a heavy civil construction company located in Thibodaux. Recounting stories of his father and uncle who were members of the TVFD, Mr. Roth said he has always had great respect for the department, and that he Iooks forward to serving and working to make the 2027 fair a great success.

Fair Chairman Walton Guidry, Fire Chief Tony Boudreaux and Fire Board President Jimmy Ledet would like to thank our dedicated members and families, the supportive community, the past Grand Marshals, our presenting sponsor Synergy Bank and all the sponsors of the fair, and the City Administration for their key roles in making our fair such a great success.

The Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department completed two full days of Officer Leadership and Development Training this weekend. This training helps our volunteer fire department members in both formal and informal leadership positions to gain valuable insight into the impact leaders and leadership can have on an organization’s success.

One of the many important takeaways:
“Always remember that leadership is a privilege. When you’re in a leadership role, your influence may affect the trajectories of people’s entire careers and often their lives.”

With the mix of experienced and new leaders in our department, this training is critically important to the our continued success.

The Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department participated in the Let Freedom Ring 4th of July Hero Breakfast this morning at Peltier Park. The Gene Richard Family, TVFD Members and the Fraternal Order of Police provided complimentary breakfast to Veterans and First Responders. We had an excellent turnout. Wishing all a Safe & Happy 250th Independence Day.

Tonight, members of the department, including three of our newest probie firefighters, had the opportunity to work with the ladder truck for the first time.

Training like this builds confidence, develops critical skills, and prepares our members for the challenges they may face in serving our community. It’s always great to see our newest firefighters eager to learn and gain hands-on experience with the equipment they’ll rely on in the field.

Great job by everyone involved, and welcome to the next step in your fire service journey!
