As we begin the 2026 Hurricane Season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, we encourage all residents to take the necessary steps now to prepare for potential storms and emergencies. Being prepared today can make all the difference tomorrow.
Here are a few important reminders:
β
Review Your Emergency Plan - Make sure your family has a clear emergency plan in place, including evacuation routes, emergency contacts, and communication methods.
β
Build an Emergency Supply Kit - Stock up on essentials such as bottled water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, first aid supplies, and any items needed for pets.
β
Stay Informed - Monitor weather conditions and emergency updates from local officials, trusted news sources, and the National Hurricane Center.
β
Check on Your Neighbors - Please reach out to elderly residents, individuals with disabilities, and others who may need assistance preparing for severe weather.
β
Strengthen Our Community - Share important information and preparedness resources with family, friends, and neighbors. A prepared community is a safer community.
To help ensure the safety of our residents, Marshal Calvin Cooks, Sr. will assign Deputy Marshals to patrol duties throughout Thibodaux Ward Two during storm-related emergencies. In the event of a mandatory evacuation, our deputies will work to protect property and assist residents as needed.
Additionally, Deputy Marshals will provide transportation to designated local shelters, as well as return transportation home, for wheelchair-bound residents within our jurisdiction who require assistance during hurricane evacuations.
Together, we can protect our families, support our neighbors, and strengthen our community's readiness for hurricane season.
Stay safe, stay prepared, and stay informed.
