Deputy Marshal Shawn Snow responded to a local grocery store after another dog was accidentally locked inside a running vehicle.

Through no fault of the owner, the vehicle door accidentally locked when the dog stepped on the locking mechanism as the owner briefly stepped outside.

Deputy Marshal Snow arrived on scene within minutes of the initial call and was able to unlock the vehicle without incident, safely reuniting the dog with its owner.

This FREE vehicle-unlocking service was started under the administration of Marshal Calvin Cooks, Sr. in 2021 and remains one of the many ways the Thibodaux City Marshal's Office serves our community.

Our Deputy Marshals do more than just sit in courtrooms or serve subpoenas. They respond. They assist. They protect. They serve.

25 years ago today, on September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed! 🇺🇲

Today, we pause to remember and honor the 2,977 innocent lives lost that day—including the 412 courageous first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while running toward danger to save others.

We remember those who lost their lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93, which crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Their lives, courage, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. May we always remember their families, their service, and the heroes who answered the call that day.

On Tuesday, September 1st, Marshal Calvin Cooks, Sr. made another surprise visit to ELearning Academy Thibodaux, where he had the opportunity to speak with students from Pre-K through 2nd grade. 📚

Marshal Cooks discussed the importance of respect, bullying prevention, and personal safety, while encouraging students to make good choices and look out for one another.

These young students are the future leaders of our community, and Marshal Cooks believes that early mentorship, positive role models, and meaningful conversations can help prepare them for that responsibility.

For more than three decades, Marshal Cooks has remained committed to partnering with our local schools by supporting educational trips to the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, student speaking engagements, school event security, traffic control, fun food donations, and scholarships.

It’s never too early to invest in our children and the future of our community!

Thibodaux City Deputy Marshals are currently standing by with a disabled commercial vehicle on LA 648 (Percy Brown Road) near Holiday Drive.

Our Deputy Marshals are monitoring the scene and assisting with traffic flow until the vehicle can be repaired or safely removed by a wrecker service.

Motorists are urged to slow down and use extra caution ⚠️ while traveling through this area. Please remain alert, watch for emergency personnel, and follow all traffic directions.
