Thetford Volunteer Fire Department TVFD is entirely volunteer and is staffed by about 20 dedicated members who will respond to emergencies whenever needed. Thank you.

Numerous waves of showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall will move through today through Wednesday night. Rainfall amounts through Thursday will range from 0.5"-2.0", with locally higher amounts possible if multiple storms go over the same area. Isolated flash flooding is possible, especially over southern Vermont and portions of the Adirondacks.

Stay weather aware today with the potential of strong storms later in the day.

Stay weather aware today with the potential of strong storms later in the day.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected this evening and tonight. Storms will move from the northwest to the southeast generally after 7 PM. The main hazard will be damaging winds, with large hail, a tornado, heavy rain, and frequent lightning possible. Remain weather aware and keep up to date with the latest forecast.

All roads are now reopened.

19:20 Update on Road Closures

1. Stowell Road is currently closed from Route 132 to Norford Lake Road for multiple trees and power lines down.

2. Cream Street is currently closed due to trees and power lines down in roadway.

3. Norford Lake Road from Stowell Road to Norford Lake is closed due to trees and power lines down.

Please DO NOT attempt to travel on these roads at this time due to the power lines that are down. There are multiple incidents on each of these roads.

Dangerous heat will continue to build into the region, with Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories in effect from noon today through 7 PM Friday. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will lead to an increased risk for heat-related illnesses. Be sure to stay hydrated and take extra precautions if outdoors!

Weather predictions this week include the potential for strong thunderstorms starting Tuesday afternoon through Thursday evening.
