✨ A Day of Inspiration, Learning & Empowerment!

300 CVUSD students in grades 6–8 from schools across the district participated in the Ray of Hope Retreat—a day focused on inspiration, learning, and empowerment. Superintendent Dr. Frances Esparza joined students at the retreat, which also featured a student panel with Desert Mirage High School students, Fernanda Valdez and Emilio Vasquez, sharing their experiences, insights, and advice with younger students.

Thank you to everyone who helped create a meaningful day for our Champions and reminded them of the possibilities ahead.

✨ ¡Un día de inspiración, aprendizaje y empoderamiento!

300 estudiantes de CVUSD de los grados 6º al 8º, provenientes de escuelas de todo el distrito, participaron en el Retiro Ray of Hope, un día enfocado en la inspiración, el aprendizaje y el empoderamiento. La Superintendente Dra. Frances Esparza acompañó a nuestros estudiantes durante el retiro, que también contó con un panel estudiantil en el que estudiantes de Desert Mirage High School, Fernanda Valdez y Emilio Vasquez, compartieron sus experiencias, perspectivas y consejos con los estudiantes más jóvenes.

🇺🇸 Cahuilla Desert Academy came together today for a 9/11 Remembrance Assembly to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and remember the courage and sacrifice of those who responded.

We were honored to have members of the Riverside County Fire Department – Coachella Fire Station #79 and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department join our students and staff for this meaningful gathering, along with Superintendent Dr. Frances Esparza and Trustee Alena Callimanis.

A special part of today’s remembrance was the presentation of a flag dedicated to Cahuilla Desert Academy. The flag was flown over the United States Capitol and comes with a certification commemorating its flight. The fire department will proudly display the flag in the school’s gymnasium as a lasting reminder of September 11 and the courage, service, and unity it represents.

Thank you to the first responders who joined us in remembering and honoring this important day. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Cahuilla Desert Academy se reunió hoy para una Ceremonia de Conmemoración del 11 de Septiembre para honrar las vidas perdidas el 11 de septiembre de 2001 y recordar el valor y sacrificio de quienes respondieron en ese momento.

Nos sentimos honrados de contar con la presencia de miembros del Departamento de Bomberos del Condado de Riverside – Estación de Bomberos #79 de Coachella y del Departamento del Sheriff del Condado de Riverside, quienes acompañaron a nuestros estudiantes y personal en esta significativa ceremonia, junto con la Superintendente Dra. Frances Esparza y la Miembra de las Mesa Directiva Alena Callimanis.

Un momento especial de la ceremonia fue la presentación de una bandera dedicada a Cahuilla Desert Academy. La bandera fue volada sobre el Capitolio de los Estados Unidos y cuenta con una certificación que conmemora este honor. El Departamento de Bomberos exhibirá con orgullo la bandera en el gimnasio de la escuela como un recordatorio permanente del 11 de septiembre y del valor, servicio y unidad que representa.

Gracias a los socorristas que nos acompañaron para recordar y honrar este día tan importante. 🇺🇸

John Kelley Elementary School got a fresh exterior paint job along with new poured-in-place rubber surfacing for their playground, creating a brighter, safer space for students to learn and play.
