"The Theodosia Area Volunteer Fire Department conducted a training drill on Tuesday night to emphasize the critical importance of donning full turnout gear, including SCBA. Responders were timed as they donned their gear, took a charged 1.5-inch line, and managed the stream and hose. The emphasis was on effective hose and stream management with full PPE. We are proud to report that all responders, including the newest members, completed the drill from start to finish in under six minutes—an outstanding achievement, especially given the heat."
TAVFD is proud of our “ I can do this” responders.

On Wednesday 4/29 at 8:52 PM the TAVFD received a report of a semi-truck off the road on HWY 160 approx. 1/4 mile west of CR 817.
The first unit on the scene reported a fuel truck (approx. 8000 gallons) off the road on its driver’s side. The scene size up indicted a number of issues that required immediate action.
• Driver injuries;
• an active HazMat
• the need for securing the scene and nearby area.
It was clear that this was a complex incident requiring coordination among multiple agencies and field operations.
Volunteer firefighters were on scene throughout the night and into the next morning working with local, county, state agencies and contractors

On Wednesday April 8 at 4:25 pm the Theodosia Area Volunteer Fire Dept received a report of a brush fire on CR 648.
The first unit on the scene reported structures on fire including a box utility trailer. With the winds, a wildland fire was moving in multiple directions. The call was upgraded to a structure fire with a request for additional resources.
Excellent response from the Pontiac/Price VFD and Protem VFD. The neighbor's storage shed along with the box trailer were destroyed. One machine shed that contained multiple fuel containers and items stored throughout the building had damage on the southeast corner. The wildland fire was contained and blocked from the two homes. It appeared that a tree blew over onto the electrical power box that caused the brush to catch fire.
Thank you White River Electric and OCSD Dispatchers for your help.
No injuries reported. Units went back in service at 6:40 pm

On Thursday March 26 at 3:24 PM the Theodosia Area Volunteer Fire Department received a report of a Brush/ Wildland Fire along state road NN. The fire was traveling in multiple directions and had multiple ignition points. The high winds and access made for a number of challenges to stop the fire advancement. Due to the multiple ignition points and statements from others, the Ozark County Sheriffs Dept was called for additional support. One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion and dehydration. The TAVFD appreciates the response and support for the mutual aid received from Gainesville and Pontiac/Price VFDs.
Thank you - Ozark County Ambulance, Ozark County Sherriff’s Department and the dispatchers of the Ozark County Sherriff’s Department.
Units went back in service at 8:05 PM. No additional injuries or structural damages reported.

On Monday December 15 at 12:15pm the TAVFD received a report of a Hazmat Propane Leak on County Road 643. The first unit on the scene reported a propane tank with some type of failure at the valve allowing a release. Due to the nature of the call, additional units of a pumper and tanker went to the scene. Although winds were favorable for the incident, a number of measurements were taken around the property. On Tuesday November 18 at 2:57 pm the TAVFD received a report of a Wildland Fire off of State Highway HH north of CR 619
First units on the scene reported fire advancing in multiple direction with a number of structures in the path of the fire. It was clear that additional resources would be needed as the fire would require a number of engagement points to protect structures. With the excellent response from the mutual aid VFDs only a utility trailer was lost, no structures were lost. A number of fire lines were created to control the advancement.
Special thanks to Ozark County Ambulance for setting up a rehab area for firefighters and the dispatchers of the Ozark County Sherrif’s Dept.
As always - an outstanding response from the Gainesville VFD, Pontiac/Price VFD and Wasola VFD.

Units went back in service at 9:40 pm
