Great work by our Financial Crimes Detectives!

In February 2026, Constable Ryan Gable’s patrol deputies received a report from a local business regarding a former employee suspected of misappropriating company funds. Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division initiated a lengthy investigation that included a detailed review of financial records.

The investigation revealed that over a two-year period, the former employee allegedly deposited company-issued checks into her personal bank account, totaling more than $460,000.00. Further analysis indicated the funds were used to purchase luxury clothing, high-end jewelry, expensive dining experiences, international travel, and other high-value items.

On June 8, 2026, Heather Surratt was taken into custody at her residence in Harris County, Texas, by Precinct 3 detectives. Surratt was charged with First-Degree Felony Theft of Property over $300,000. Surratt was transported to the Montgomery County Jail, where she was booked without incident.

This case remains under investigation.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Today, Lieutenant's Amanda & Cody Johns with the Salvation Army, were joined by their family as they made their rounds to multiple First Responders delivering donuts for National Donut Day.

National Donut Day honors the "Donut Lassies"—Salvation Army volunteers who fried and served donuts to American soldiers on the front lines during World War I. Established in 1938 as a fundraiser for the Great Depression, the day celebrates courage, community care, and the sweet comfort the pastries provided.

The holiday is an annual observance packed with both historical meaning and community fundraising, usually featuring free pastries and special deals at local shops across the country.

Thank you all for your time and dedication to the community.

Houston Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 25 Years for Fentanyl Distribution

The Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit (CIU) announces the successful conclusion of a joint narcotics investigation that resulted in a significant fentanyl seizure and lengthy prison sentence.

In November 2024, Constable Ryan Gable’s Criminal Interdiction Unit, the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division (CID), and the Houston Police Department conducted a collaborative investigation that led to the arrest of Cedric Derrell Potts of Houston, Texas, for Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized more than 500 grams of fentanyl, preventing a substantial quantity of this dangerous narcotic from reaching communities throughout the Southeast Texas region.

In June 2026, Cedric Potts plead guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 25 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Constable Ryan Gable and his team would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Houston Police Department for their partnership and assistance throughout the course of this investigation.

“Constable Gable and his team are dedicated to protecting the public from criminals and those that exploit our communities"
