🐾 June is National Pet Preparedness Month!
In Oklahoma, severe weather can strike fast-don’t wait until the sirens sound or the heat climbs.
Emergency planning includes the whole family; furry, feathered, or scaled friends included!

Start building your pet’s emergency plan today. Start with the basics: a leash, carrier, food, water, meds, and a backup caregiver who knows your pet’s routine.
Take a few minutes to think through:
• Where your pets will go during severe weather
• How you’ll transport them quickly if you need to evacuate
• A bag of supplies your pets will need for several days.

Having a pet preparedness plan now can help reduce stress and confusion when emergencies happen. You should also keep printed copies in your go-bag with vaccination records, microchip info, feeding instructions, and a recent photo of you with your pet.

The Village Fire Department was proud to have our Fire Marshal join several Metro Area Fire Marshals in a collaborative discussion with local architects and engineers focused on improving communication and coordination during plan review and project implementation phases between design professionals and local AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction).

The meeting provided an opportunity for open discussion on code interpretation, project coordination, plan review expectations, and ways all parties can work together more effectively throughout the development process.

Conversations like these help bridge the gap between industries and strengthen professional relationships across the metro. By working together and better understanding each other’s roles and challenges, we can improve efficiency, consistency, and ultimately better serve our communities.

We appreciate everyone who participated and look forward to continued collaboration in future projects and discussions.

☀️🚒 School’s Out, Water’s On! 💦

The end of the school year can only mean one thing… it’s time for Super Kids Day!

And around here, that usually means the Fire Department shows up with a fire engine, a lot of smiles, and a very suspicious amount of water pressure. 😄

We love getting to celebrate the start of summer with our community and helping the kids cool off the best way we know how.

Have a safe and fun summer break! ☀️🚒💦

Thank you again to Edmond Fire Department for hosting us and providing outstanding training opportunities for our crews. The hands-on experience, instruction, and coordination were extremely valuable, and we appreciate the investment your department continues to make in regional partnerships and firefighter development.

Training together like this strengthens all of our departments and helps ensure we can operate seamlessly when our communities need us most. We appreciate the hospitality and look forward to continuing to build on this partnership with both Edmond and Nichols Hills Fire Department.

🚒 Meet Our Newest Firefighter – Luke Davis

We’d like to introduce Rookie Firefighter Luke Davis to the community. Luke is originally from Guthrie, Oklahoma, where he began his journey in public service. Before entering the fire service, Luke spent many years teaching and coaching, building a strong foundation in leadership and mentorship.

He started his fire career with the Guthrie Fire Department, serving for a year before joining us here at The Village Fire Department.

Luke is supported by his wife, Rachel, and their 8-month-old son, Tucker, with family at the core of everything he does.

We’re proud to have Luke as part of our team and look forward to the impact he will make serving our community. Welcome to The Village, Luke! 👏🚒

👞🚒 Business Appreciation Spotlight

The Village Fire Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to Zeigler’s Shoe Repair for their continued support of our department over the years.

Zeigler’s has gone above and beyond time and time again, providing quality service and taking care of our personnel in ways that truly make a difference. Their dedication, reliability, and willingness to support first responders do not go unnoticed.

We don’t just see Zeigler’s as a local business, we consider them part of the family. As a small token of our appreciation, we are proud to present them with an honorary fire helmet and shield in recognition of their ongoing support.

Thank you, Zeigler’s, for all that you do for The Village Fire Department. 👏

📞🚓🚒 National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. (Dispatcher appreciation week)

This week, we recognize the voices behind the scenes, the calm in the chaos, our dispatchers!

These seven individuals are the first line of response when someone in our community calls for help. They gather critical information, coordinate resources, and guide callers through some of the most stressful moments of their lives; all without ever being seen on scene.

Their professionalism, quick thinking, and steady presence make a difference every single day for both our citizens and our responders.

💡 Fun Fact: As much as firefighters and police officers bicker about who is the real “First Responder.”
Dispatchers are the true “First First Responders” because they are the very first point of contact in an emergency and can begin lifesaving instructions before police, fire, or EMS even arrive.

We are incredibly grateful for the work they do and the dedication they show to our community.

We are currently in the process of hiring an additional dispatcher to serve our community in this critical role and we look forward to working with them soon.

Thank you for all that you do. ❤️

🚒🚓📞 Thank You, AT&T FirstNet!

The Village would like to extend a sincere thank you to AT&T FirstNet for providing a wonderful First Responder Appreciation Day.

Our Police, Fire, and Emergency Dispatch personnel were treated to a great day filled with breakfast, lunch, entertainment, and raffle prizes. It was a meaningful opportunity for our team to come together and feel the support from those who recognize the work being done every day.

We have the honor of serving this community, and we are truly grateful for the outreach and appreciation shown to our first responders.

Thank you for taking the time to invest in those who serve. 👏🚒🚓
