What a beautiful way to share Jarons' memory!

🚒 Community Invitation: Fire Apparatus Dedication Ceremony 🚒

Dufur Volunteer Fire & Ambulance invites our community to join us for a special dedication ceremony as we place two new fire apparatus into service, a Type 3 wildland engine and a Type 6 wildland engine.

These vehicles were generously donated by the family of Firefighter/EMT Jaron Lance, and the ceremony will honor Jaron's memory, his commitment to service, and the lasting impact he continues to have on our department and community.

The ceremony will include remarks from the Lance family, a blessing of the apparatus, a traditional fire service push-in ceremony, and the formal dedication of the engines.

🕒 Time: 2pm
📍 Location: Dufur Volunteer Fire & Ambulance Hall

This event is open to the public. We encourage community members, neighboring agencies, friends, and families to attend as we celebrate this meaningful addition to our fleet and honor a firefighter whose legacy continues to serve others.

We hope you will join us as we dedicate these apparatus and recognize the generosity of the Lance family and the enduring spirit of service that strengthens our community.

In Memoriam: Remembering Commissioner Phil Brady

Wasco County is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of County Commissioner Phil Brady, who died on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. A lifelong resident of The Dalles, former science teacher, and passionate community advocate, Commissioner Brady dedicated his life to public service, championing vital initiatives in affordable housing, regional healthcare access, and rural community support. For the Wasco County family, his passing is a profound loss that leaves a void in local leadership, as he was a trusted voice known for bringing people together to solve complex issues. While our community mourns a kind and dedicated leader, county services will continue without interruption, and work on the initiatives he championed will carry on as we navigate this transition.
