🍎 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤-𝐭𝐨-𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲: 𝐋𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞! 🚌

With school starting next week, our morning and afternoon commutes are about to get a lot busier. Whether you're driving, walking, or riding, a little extra patience goes a long way.

Here is a quick refresher to help everyone get to class and work safely:

𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐙𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬
👉Watch the speed limit: School zone speed limits are strictly enforced.
👉Put the phone away: Distracted driving is dangerous driving, especially where kids are active.
👉Expect the unexpected: Young children can be unpredictable and may step off the curb suddenly.

𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲
👉Yield to pedestrians: Always stop for kids and parents in marked and unmarked crosswalks.
👉Stop completely: Don't roll through stop signs or intersections near schools.
👉Never pass a stopped car: If a car ahead of you is stopped at a crosswalk, they are likely letting someone cross. Passing them is illegal and dangerous.

𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬
👉Yellow lights mean prepare to stop: Don't try to beat the bus. ❌
👉Red lights & extended stop arms mean STOP: Drivers traveling in both directions must stop until the red lights turn off and the stop arm folds back in (unless traveling on a divided highway separated by a physical median).
👉Give them space: Maintain at least a 10-foot buffer around the bus to give children room to enter and exit safely.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: Nothing! Leave backpacks and heavy bags at home.

🍕 Pre-order your pizza! A limited quantity has been generously donated by Spooky’s Pizza, so we recommend ordering ahead if you’d like pizza during the movie.

🎟️ Feeling lucky? Grab a 50/50 raffle ticket! Half of the pot goes to one lucky winner, and the other half supports Education Foundation programs for local students and teachers. You don’t need to attend the movie to participate!

Huge congrats to recent TDHS grad Kimberly Morales Cortes for being featured as a "Young Woman to Watch in 2026" in the latest issue of Gorge Woman! 🎓✨

Kim is off to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University this fall to major in Aerospace Engineering and minor in astronomy and astrophysics. The sky isn't even the limit! 🚀
