Huge Congratulations to Chief MacNab!
The OACP congratulates Eric Macnab on his appointment as Chief of Police for the Gladstone Police Department.
Chief Macnab brings more than two decades of Oregon law enforcement experience to the position. He joined the Gladstone Police Department in October 2024 as a Lieutenant after completing a 21-year career with the The Dalles Police Department, where he began serving as a police officer in 2003.
During his career in The Dalles, Chief Macnab served in a variety of operational, investigative, and leadership assignments, gaining experience in criminal investigations, narcotics, code enforcement, and organizational management. He was promoted to Detective Sergeant in 2017, overseeing the department’s investigative function and working closely with regional law enforcement and community partners.
Chief Macnab later served as Administration Sergeant and played an important role in preparing The Dalles PD for its first agency accreditation. In 2023, he was among the command staff recognized for the work involved in preparing the department for the comprehensive review of its policies, procedures, professional standards, and management practices.
His work has also included community and interagency partnerships, including participation in Wasco County’s 'Handle with Care' initiative, which brought law enforcement and local schools together to better support students who had experienced potentially traumatic events.
Chief Macnab brought that combination of investigative, administrative, and leadership experience to Gladstone in 2024 and has continued serving the community in a command role leading up to his appointment as Chief of Police.
Chief Macnab and his wife, Angie, have five children and enjoy camping and spending time at the beach.
Congratulations, Chief Macnab, on your appointment. The OACP wishes you every success as you lead the Gladstone PD and serve the Gladstone community.
