This is your official invitation: Come celebrate Pacific lamprey with us at Bonneville Dam!

Last summer, we hosted an event at Bonneville called Lampreypalooza. The goal? To share a day of science, storytelling, and up-close encounters with one of the Northwest’s most ancient and culturally significant native fish.

Obviously, it was awesome.
So, we’re doing it again this year!

When: Wednesday, June 24, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Bonneville Dam (Bradford Island Visitor Center)

Open to the public. Totally free!

What’s in store for you at Lampreypalooza?
-- Get an up-close look at these fascinating ancient fish in a live lamprey viewing tank
-- Learn about Pacific lamprey from the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission (CRITFC) and the Pacific Lamprey Conservation Initiative (PLCI)
-- Watch a demonstration by CRITFC fisheries experts showing lamprey trapping methods
-- Learn about lamprey migration and fish passage at Bonneville Dam
-- Explore tables and exhibits from a wide range of partners, including Yakama Nation Fisheries, Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR), and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
-- See lamprey tagging technology, eDNA displays
-- Check out a really cool lamprey art project
-- And more!

Why celebrate Pacific lamprey?
Pacific lamprey are a key species in the Columbia River Basin. They’re culturally significant to Tribal Nations, play an important role in the food web, and have survived hundreds of millions of years of environmental change. Lampreypalooza shines a light on these ancient fish and the strong partnerships working to protect them for future generations.

Some nice person dropped off a couple items. We don't know who. Someone else asked if they could bring in some pastries from Petite Provence to have with our coffee. Absolutely. We just got the perfect thing to put them on. Thanks everyone!

You've heard that "eyes are the window to the soul" we've always maintained that "windows are the eyes to the soul of an old building" now we have a fancy term for it.
