The purpose of the program is to acquaint young men and young women with careers in Law Enforcement. The Goals and Objectives of The Colony Police Explorer Program are to:
• Build leadership skills
• Encourage the Explorer’s participation in community service activities
• Further the Explorer’s education
• Prepare the Explorers as citizens, community leaders, and as police officers
The members
hip requirements listed can, at the discretion of the Post Advisory Staff, be changed to allow for admission or denial of special cases. Basically, membership qualifications are as follows:
• Must have attained the age of 14 and be out of the 8th Grade or 15 and still in the 8th Grade and no older than 20 years of age.
• Must be in good physical and mental condition
• Must have maintained a passing average in their scholastic subjects
• Must not have had negative police contacts
• Must pass a background investigation
• Must maintain a good moral character
• Must maintain an appearance and demeanor which is in keeping with the standards of The Colony Police Department
• Must have full approval of parents or guardian and assurance of their support and cooperation
Ride- Along Program
The Explorers will be allowed to get firsthand knowledge of patrol procedures by riding with a police officer in the field during a normal tour of duty. The Explorers will observe, experience, and learn law enforcement first hand. Training
