☀️ SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SUMMER — KNOW THE NEW RULES BEFORE YOU RIDE ☀️
As kids and families head outdoors this summer, The Colony has recently adopted new city ordinances regarding the use of E-Bikes, Motor-Assisted Scooters, Pocket Bikes, and Mini-Motorbikes within city limits.
Our goal is education, awareness, and safety for everyone using our streets, sidewalks, parks, and trails.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
🚲 E-Bikes
• Texas law recognizes 3 classes of e-bikes
• Riders must obey traffic laws and yield to pedestrians
• Class 3 E-Bikes may not be operated by anyone under 15 years old
🛴 Motor-Assisted Scooters
• Riders under 18 may only ride on designated bicycle paths/trails
• Scooters are prohibited on roads with speed limits over 35 MPH
• Minors are required to wear a helmet
🏍️ Pocket Bikes & Mini-Motorbikes
• These vehicles are NOT allowed on public roadways or public property within the city
• Parents may not permit minors to operate them on public property or roadways
⚠️ Violations may result in citations under The Colony Code of Ordinances.
We encourage all riders and parents to review the attached flyers and help keep our community safe this summer.
✅ Ride smart
✅ Wear a helmet
