This is the caption

Buying a home was supposed to be the dream.

For too many Texas families, keeping that home is becoming the struggle.

When property taxes, insurance, repairs, and everyday costs keep climbing, working hard doesn’t always feel like enough.

The Texas Dream should be something families can afford to live not just something they can afford to achieve.

What’s putting the most pressure on your budget?

Ted Cruz wants Texans afraid of “Sharia law.”

Let’s be clear:

The Constitution is the law.

Muslims don’t lose their constitutional rights because they’re Muslim. And no religious belief replaces American law.

Texas doesn’t need politicians manufacturing enemies.

We need leaders who bring people together—not politicians who turn religion into a weapon.

The reality of Texas vouchers: Private schools choose. Students are rejected. Our partner Our Schools Our Democracy’s Texas Center for Voucher Transparency analyzed 221 private schools approved for the state's voucher program. The data reveal almost half of voucher-accepting private schools are religious institutions.

Why does this matter? Unlike public schools, private religious schools can legally use selective admissions. They aren't bound by the same public accountability, transparency or civil rights standards, meaning public tax dollars are now funding discriminatory practices.

Vouchers offer choice on paper, but in practice, they fund student discrimination. Check out the full breakdown from OSOD here: bit.ly/OSOD_VoucherReview

The history we can’t forget.
In 1910, a resolution in the Texas House sought to push Congress toward repealing the Fourteenth Amendment the amendment that guaranteed citizenship to Black Americans born in the United States.

The fight over citizenship, voting rights, and equal representation is a reminder that progress should never be taken for granted.

We study history not to divide us, but to understand where we've been, how far we've come, and why protecting the rights of every person still matters.

History matters. Rights matter. Your voice matters.

This Labor Day, we reflect on how far we’ve come and how much more there is to do.

Progress has always been driven by hardworking people who chose to stand up and make their voices heard. That’s why your vote matters.

Texas deserves leadership that works for the people. Let’s keep moving forward.
