As I reflect on the last few weeks leading up to my 50th birthday, I realize now more than ever how blessed I am. I have a Jesus who died for me. I have a husband that would move mountains for me. I have two adult children that are happy, intelligent, healthy, strong, and know that they have a place to come home to if they ever need it. I have a family that is made up of in-laws and friends that respect me. I have people that I can call on day or night that would drop everything if I needed them. These are the things in life that are the most important to me. My people. They came together to celebrate me today in a way that was well suited to my personality and needs. They know me well, the good and the not so great. And they have loved me through the last decades and helped me to mend broken pieces of my heart. I stand here at this half-century mark not just ready to take on the future, but armed with the love and affection of my people. I cannot imagine anything greater.
